Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial mental health assessments through detailed interviews, ensuring thorough documentation from the first consultation to treatment completion.
  • Evaluate clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health, utilizing comprehensive assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Design and implement tailored intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Facilitate individual therapy sessions and lead group therapy interventions that promote healing and personal growth.
  • Regularly monitor client progress and adapt treatment plans based on evolving needs and feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals—including physicians, nurses, and social workers—to develop integrated intervention strategies.
  • Follow up on clients who are hospitalized, interfacing with psychiatrists and attending physicians to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Identify potential barriers to recovery and work proactively to mitigate behaviors that impede progress.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily support clients experiencing a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. Our diverse client base includes individuals of all ages and backgrounds, allowing you to apply your expertise across various demographics, enhancing your professional development and skill set.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field is required.
  • Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New Jersey.
  • A successful passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) is required.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR, to document interventions and client interactions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities to foster trust and rapport with clients.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience as a mental health counselor, ideally in a similar outpatient or remote care setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of various mental health conditions, including co-occurring disorders, trauma responses, and relational dynamics.
  • Familiarity with the latest developments in psychotherapy practices and the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) guidelines.
