Overview

The Senior Epic Data Acquisition Analyst leads the Data Acquisition Team's engagements with client health systems to plan, design, and deliver the extraction of clinical, pharmacy, scheduling, referral, and provider data from Epic into VytlOne's VytlAIQ 340B optimization and analytics platform. Serves as the senior technical lead for Epic data acquisition, owning the extraction methodology, interface and reporting specifications, and the mapping of client Epic data to VytlOne's canonical data model. Works directly with client Epic teams and with VytlOne's data platform, analytics, and 340B business teams to ensure complete, accurate, and audit-defensible data delivery. Work is largely independent and collaborative in nature; sets standards for the team and mentors mid-level analysts.

Responsibilities
  • Lead client-facing Epic data acquisition engagements end to end: scope the required data with client stakeholders, define the extraction approach, and drive delivery against the VytlAIQ data input matrix.
  • Partner with client Epic teams (Application Coordinators, report writers, interface analysts, and security/privacy staff) to secure access, agree on extraction methods, and remove blockers.
  • Travel to client health system sites to lead on-site data acquisition work, discovery sessions, and issue resolution.
  • Navigate the customer's organization - coordinating across their IT, Epic/informatics, and operations teams - to align priorities, engage the right stakeholders, and keep extraction work on track.
  • Serve as VytlOne's primary on-site technical point of contact during client engagements, representing the Data Acquisition Team professionally with senior client stakeholders.
  • Design and oversee extraction of Epic data using both reporting tools (Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer) and interface methods (Epic Bridges, HL7 v2, FHIR R4, SMART on FHIR).
  • Define and document interface and report specifications for required feeds, including prescription orders, patient encounters/discharges, covered-entity referrals, scheduled patients, location/unit, insurance crosswalk, and provider credentialing, as well as HL7 ADT, SIU, and REF messages.
  • Own the mapping of client-specific Epic data to VytlOne's canonical data model, and maintain the data input matrix as the source of truth for each client's feeds.
  • Establish reusable extraction patterns, onboarding playbooks, and standards that shorten client implementation timelines and improve consistency.
  • Lead validation, reconciliation, and quality checks on extracted data; confirm completeness and accuracy before hand-off to downstream platform and analytics teams.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex integration issues at the seams between client Epic systems, VytlOne's data platform, and external partners.
  • Ensure all data acquisition activity complies with HIPAA, executed BAAs, minimum-necessary principles, and HRSA 340B program requirements; coordinate secure connectivity and PGP-encrypted SFTP with client IT and security.
  • Coordinate with VytlOne data platform, analytics, and 340B business teams, and with external integration and development partners, to align delivery with launch and operational milestones.
  • Provide technical mentorship and work direction to mid-level analysts, and review specifications and extract designs for quality and consistency.
  • Contribute to estimation, planning, and status reporting for data acquisition workstreams.
  • Develop organizational, business, application, and functional process knowledge; understand client data flows end to end to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a similar discipline from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of directly related experience working with Epic in a health system, health IT, integration, or vendor capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in a client-facing or consulting capacity - leading on-site engagements and building relationships across customer IT, Epic/informatics, and operations teams.
  • Demonstrated experience extracting data from Epic using both reporting tools (Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer) and interface methods (Epic Bridges).
  • Strong experience with healthcare integration standards: HL7 v2 (including ADT, SIU, ORM/ORU, and REF), FHIR R4, and SMART on FHIR.
  • Experience delivering file-based data feeds via PGP-encrypted SFTP.
  • Experience working directly with external client technical teams to gather requirements and coordinate data extraction.
  • Working knowledge of Epic's data model (Chronicles / Clarity / Caboodle) and experience translating source data to a target or canonical data model.
  • Epic Willow (Inpatient and/or Ambulatory) pharmacy data experience desirable.
  • Healthcare data experience with a strong understanding of PHI handling under HIPAA and business associate agreements (BAAs).
  • 340B program and/or specialty pharmacy data experience strongly desired.
  • Epic certification (e.g., Cogito / Clarity Data Model, Caboodle Data Model, Bridges, or Willow) preferred; VytlOne will sponsor certification for qualified candidates.
  • Advanced SQL for data extraction, profiling, and validation.
  • Experience leading or mentoring analysts and setting technical standards.
  • Seasoned experience delivering data or integration projects using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Azure Cloud project experience desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of JIRA and ServiceNow desirable.
  • Excellent written communication skills to deliver clear technical and interface specifications.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to interview and gather requirements from client technical and business stakeholders.
