Revenue Cycle Medical Billing Commercial Specialist
Location: On-Site or Remote, United States
Hourly Compensation: $20
(this position is bonus eligible)
The Revenue Cycle Medical Billing Commercial Specialist must have experience working with one or multiple payer sources, such as to include Commercial and Blue Cross/ Blue Shield insurances. The successful candidate will have knowledge of navigating payor portals, the ability to verify claim status, and possess effective communication skills in order to contact the patient to obtain information needed to complete the billing process. All tasks must be performed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with Billing Office practices, policies, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
• Examine the patient record and/or researches all avenues in order to gather information.
• Support process improvements to assure quality and timely documentation.
• Follow billing process, making necessary contacts to assure maximum reimbursement.
• Work closely with all billing and support service groups.
• Submit and follow-up on COB/additional information requests for claim adjudication via portal upload, mail and/or fax.
• Make claim inquiries via online portals, telephone, email, etc. and multitasks on accounts when holding over the phone.
• Meet daily and monthly departmental production goals to ensure that the company is achieving its financial goals.
• Identify, document, and communicate trends in recurring rejections and denials to leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience & Skills:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of medical billing experience
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Knowledge of navigating insurance payor portals
  • Ability to communicate professionally verbally and written
  • Ability to work independently with little or no direction and as a member of a team

Preferred Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year working in a call center environment
  • Above average knowledge of insurance billing guidelines and policies
  • Experience with Commercial Insurance processes and policies
  • Experience with Veterans' Administration Claims

Preferred Education:
  • High school diploma
  • GED
  • Or significant, relevant work experience
