Job description

Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee the daily, weekly, and monthly activities of a fund accounting team consisting of individuals varying in skill levels from Manger to entry level Fund Accountants. Interacts with clients and ensures team delivers daily NAV accounting, pricing, review, and reconciliation functions for funds for several client mutual funds.

  • Manage a teams of fund accounting managers
  • Ensures team receives technical, industry and client specific training and acts as a resource for the team
  • Manages manager time, salary, and performance records; initiates change of assignments, salary increases, conducts performance appraisals and management activities, and recommends staffing changes
  • Develop and communicate performance objectives and individual development plans for managers. Works with Managers to do same for their teams.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on any disciplinary action needed
  • Act as escalation point for any issues the team is experiencing
  • Assess current policies and procedures
  • Escalation and strategic contact for clients being serviced by the team
  • Manage client launches for Fund Accounting, including working with the advisor to establish the appropriate fund set-up, pricing policies, reporting needs, trade delivery methods, etc. to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Support Managers to ensure audit requests for various auditors, both internal and external requests are complete and timely.
  • Work with Head of fund Accounting to improve system functionality and prioritize enhancements needed for efficiency
  • Oversee testing for new releases to the accounting system and assist presenting the upgrade features to the Fund Accountants
  • Develop/maintain strong working relationship(s) with advisors, traders, trading assistants, portfolio managers, custodians and auditors
  • Identify and propose solutions for daily accounting and pricing issues
  • Partner with various internal/external parties to ensure compliance with SEC, IRS, and GAAP reporting regulations.
  • Review management exception reports - escalate and facilitate any necessary changes to the system
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

MINIMUM:

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and advanced Excel skills. Demonstrated aptitude and experience with in-house software
  • Demonstrated managerial and teamwork skills
  • Strong understanding of the industry and the changing environment while anticipating client needs
  • Strong relationship development skills and an aptitude for client service
  • Exhibit initiative in a high performing culture and have a track record of meeting or beating deadlines
  • Demonstrates excellent work habits, attendance, and attitude
  • Required to communicate effectively with clients and/or coworkers using common telecommunication and computer equipment

Requirements

MINIMUM:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Investment Banking, Economics, International Business. or any combination of education experience that would provide an equivalent background
  • Ten (10) years Funding accounting or related experience
  • Three (3) years Supervisor or Management experience, preferably in Fund Accounting

PREFERRED

  • Certified Public Accountant

Work Environment:

Typical office environment. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
