Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Application Engineer to support our Municipal business. The Application Engineer will leverage their comprehensive knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, and municipal water/wastewater systems to assist with pump selections, scope of supply development, specification and P&ID reviews, and utilization of Goulds Pumps quoting software.  While primarily focused on supporting our distributors, this role may occasionally involve quoting customers directly. This position is essential for ensuring our municipal reps have the resources and expertise needed to deliver exceptional solutions and drive sales growth in the municipal market.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, customers, and vendors to provide technical support, develop proposals, and manage orders from quote to delivery. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic sales efforts and build strong customer relationships in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment.

This role would reside in one of our ITT offices in Houston, TX; Colfax, North Carolina; or Chicago, Illinois.

Essential Responsibilities

May include:

  • Review customer specifications, P&ID's, and other tender documents to prepare comprehensive, professional proposals.
  • Select optimal centrifugal pump configurations using proprietary software tools.
  • Generate scope of supply documentation and submit orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide technical support to distributors and customers and respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Interface with external vendors to obtain quotes for auxiliary equipment.
  • Process and manage orders, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Serve as a liaison between distributors/customers and internal operations teams.
  • Participate in sales calls and pre-award meetings to support strategy and customer engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong rapport with customer contacts.
Position Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Distribution, or a related technical field.

 

Experience:

  • 10+ Years experience with rotating equipment, preferably centrifugal pumps.
  • Familiarity with generating technical quotations and processing customer orders.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in the municipal water/wastewater market

 

Skills & Attributes:

  • Knowledge of municipal water and wastewater systems is preferred
  • Knowledge of typical municipal tender process is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude
