Spring Mountain Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated Senior Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our remote team in Rochester, New York. Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate each patientโ€™s trauma history and collaboratively identify tailored treatment strategies.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that emphasize recovery and resilience-building, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
  • Deliver both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at helping patients process trauma, cultivate coping strategies, and foster personal healing.
  • Provide crisis intervention support during trauma-related emergencies, applying strong analytical skills to assess risks and needs effectively.
  • Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, instilling understanding and practical coping mechanisms to facilitate the healing process.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential electronic documentation of patient interactions and treatment progress, complying with all relevant legal and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of integrated care, sharing insights and strategies to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in trauma therapy to continuously enhance your knowledge and application in your therapeutic practice.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with individuals affected by various trauma experiences, ranging from single-incident events to complex conditions resulting from prolonged exposure to adverse circumstances. Our client population includes diverse backgrounds and ages, each with unique stories and needs that require a tailored, empathetic approach.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of trauma-related disorders, resilience-building approaches, and trauma-informed treatment methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, allowing you to connect authentically with clients while also maintaining professionalism.
  • A strong capacity to remain composed in high-stress situations, providing sound judgment in crisis scenarios.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is preferred, those with significant exposure to trauma-focused therapies and interventions, especially EMDR and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), will be prioritized. Experience in electronic health record (EHR) systems and effective teamwork in mental health settings are also highly valued.
