At Newton Street, our mission is to connect people and ideas that change the world.

We are a women-led strategic communications firm advising global health organizations, philanthropies, high-profile individuals, family offices, for-profit companies, and social impact organizations tackling the most complex issues of our time.

We help our partners shape narratives, elevate ideas, and spark action that drives meaningful change on a global scale.

Our team is collaborative and values-driven, guided by integrity, kindness, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence.

Role Snapshot – Media Engagement + Writing Expertise

We’re seeking an Account Manager with strong earned media experience and a sharp understanding of how media, digital, social, and owned channels work together to advance mission-driven goals.

This is not a marketing, advertising, or sales role. It is an integrated strategic communications role for someone who understands how to work with journalists, develop compelling story angles, shape executive thought leadership, and translate narratives across digital and social platforms. The ideal candidate brings strong media relations judgment and is comfortable advising clients on how earned media, LinkedIn, newsletters, websites, social content, and analytics can work together to build visibility and impact.

You’ll work closely with our founders and senior strategists, leading day-to-day client relationships and driving media-focused communications programs for high-impact organizations.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a trusted day-to-day partner to clients, managing relationships with confidence and care
  • Lead media and digital communications strategies, including:
    • Developing story angles, messaging, and narrative platforms
    • Pitching journalists and editors
    • Securing media coverage, op-eds, interviews, and thought leadership placements
    • Identifying opportunities to extend media moments across digital, social and owned channels
  • Draft and edit high-quality written materials, including:
    • Media pitches and press materials
    • Op-eds and contributed articles
    • Talking points, speeches, and briefing documents
    • Communications strategies, media plans, and digital content
    • LinkedIn posts, executive thought leadership content, newsletter copy, website language, and social media content as needed
  • Support media training and message development for executives and subject-matter experts
  • Advise clients on how earned media, digital platforms, social content, and owned channels can work together to advance strategic goals
  • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure strategic alignment and flawless execution
  • Manage multiple client priorities with clarity, responsiveness, and calm under pressure
  • Contribute ideas that strengthen client impact and help evolve Newton Street’s offerings
  • Track and analyze media and digital performance, delivering clear reports that assess message pull-through, narrative impact, and opportunities for amplification.
  • Monitor media, digital, and social trends and emerging news to identify timely pitching opportunities and position clients within relevant public conversations.

Client Sectors You Could Support

  • Global Health
  • Women’s Health
  • Climate, Environment, and Agricultural Development
  • Economic Opportunity
  • AI for Social Good
  • Philanthropy & Social Impact

What You’ll Bring

  • 6–8 years of experience in public relations, strategic communications, media relations, or integrated communications
  • Demonstrated success securing earned media coverage, op-eds, and thought leadership placements
  • Strong understanding of how journalists work, what makes a story newsworthy, and how media moments can be extended through digital and social channels.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills—clear, persuasive, and purposeful
  • Experience working in or alongside - PR agencies, foundations, social impact or policy-focused organizations
  • Knowledge of one or more core issue areas: climate, global health, women’s health, mental health, economic opportunity, or philanthropy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects without sacrificing quality or judgment
  • Responsive and proactive while working in a remote office environment
  • Experience in working across teams and collaboratively with other partners or agencies
  • Technologically fluent and proactive, with strong organizational and collaboration skills.
  • Comfort working in global or multicultural contexts
  • Eligibility to work in the United States

Bonus Points

  • Existing media relationships in global health, philanthropy, or policy journalism
  • Experience leading integrated communications campaigns
  • Experience using analytics or performance insights to refine communications strategy
  • Experience mentoring junior team members
  • Background in crisis communications or reputation management
  • Experience advising senior leaders, philanthropists, or public-facing experts

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary ($95,000–$120,000)
  • Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, disability, accidental death & dismemberment insurance, and retirement plan
  • Generous paid time off and holidays — including a year-end paid break
  • Fully remote, U.S.-based work environment
  • A culture where your voice matters and your impact is visible

Equal Opportunity

Newton Street is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members.
