Remote Hair Modeling information

What is remote hair modeling?

Remote hair modeling is a type of modeling where individuals showcase different hairstyles, haircuts, or hair colors for brands or stylists without needing to be physically present at a studio. Instead, models participate in photo or video shoots from their own homes, often using high-quality cameras or smartphones, and submitting their content online. This allows hair care companies, salons, and stylists to display their work or products while reaching a wider range of models from different locations. Remote hair modeling can include live demonstrations via video calls, pre-recorded tutorials, or before-and-after hairstyle transformations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote hair model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Hair Model, you need a presentable appearance, healthy hair, and the ability to follow styling directions, often with prior modeling experience being advantageous. Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms, high-resolution cameras, and proper lighting setups is typically required. Strong communication skills, reliability, and adaptability help you collaborate effectively with stylists and clients remotely. These abilities ensure that you can professionally represent brands, follow creative briefs, and deliver high-quality results despite the challenges of working off-site.

What are some common challenges faced by remote hair models, and how can they be addressed?

Remote hair modeling often requires models to style and maintain their own hair for virtual shoots, which can be challenging without in-person guidance from stylists. Additionally, achieving good lighting, camera angles, and high-quality video or photos from home can take practice and investment in basic equipment. Many remote hair models find it helpful to communicate regularly with creative teams, follow detailed prep instructions, and invest in tools like ring lights or tripods to ensure professional results. Building these skills can lead to more opportunities and consistent work in the remote modeling space.

Remote Hair Modeling involves showcasing hair for photoshoots or advertisements remotely, often without formal licensing. Hair Stylists provide hands-on hair services in salons or shops. While both roles focus on hair, Remote Hair Modeling is more about appearance for media, whereas Hair Stylists perform practical grooming services.

How can I become a remote hair model?

To become a remote hair model, you should build a portfolio showcasing your hair and appearance, often through professional photos or social media. You can then apply to modeling agencies or hair product companies that offer remote opportunities, and be prepared to demonstrate good communication skills and a willingness to follow styling instructions remotely.

Is being a remote hair model a real job?

Remote hair modeling is a legitimate job where individuals showcase hairstyles or hair products through photos or videos for brands or salons. It often involves providing high-quality images or virtual consultations and may require specific hair types or styling skills. This role is typically part of marketing or promotional campaigns and can be done from home with proper equipment.

Job description

About Kitsch
We're a certified female- and minority-owned global beauty brand. What started as hair ties sold door-to-door is now in 32,000+ retailers across 92 countries - no outside capital, just hustle and good product. We make everyday essentials that make you feel exceptional.
The Role
Marketing is our engine. Right now, it's running on heroics. This role is how it starts running on rhythm.
You'll be the operating backbone of the marketing team - half marketing ops, half chief of staff. You'll build the systems, own the numbers, and become a true force multiplier to our marketing leader. If a clean dashboard and an on-time launch give you a little thrill, keep reading.
Location: Remote - open to candidates based in the US or LATAM.
What You'll Do
  • Build a real operating cadence - weekly stand-ups, monthly reviews, quarterly planning - so the team runs on rhythm, not chaos
  • Build and own the dashboard leadership actually uses: CAC, ROAS, LTV, repeat-purchase rate
  • Own the launch calendar and keep every team ready - creative, e-commerce, retail, social - so nothing slips
  • Run quarterly planning, track OKRs, and keep decisions moving to closure
  • Manage the marketing budget, POs, and key vendor relationships
  • Prep leadership meetings, capture decisions, and drive follow-through
  • Find the recurring friction points and turn them into documented playbooks
  • Connect marketing tightly with product, e-commerce, retail, and ops
What You Bring
  • 4-6 years in marketing ops, growth/biz ops, or a chief-of-staff role - ideally consumer, DTC, beauty, or CPG
  • Hands-on experience with a modern martech stack: email/CRM (like Klaviyo), an e-commerce platform (like Shopify), and analytics/attribution tools
  • Strong spreadsheet and dashboarding skills - you build models and reports without hand-holding
  • Comfortable in project management tools (Asana, monday, Trello) - and in the discipline behind them
  • A track record of running complex, cross-functional projects or launches from start to finish

Bonus points for:
  • Beauty, hair, or CPG experience
  • Omnichannel exposure across DTC and retail (Target, Ulta, Amazon, TikTok Shop)
  • SQL, GA4, or a BI/attribution tool like Looker or Northbeam
  • Experience scaling ops inside a fast-growth, founder-led brand
