Job description

Guidewire Developer
  • Job Description

As our Guidewire Developer, you will use a variety of tools to help us add functionality and prevent issues in our Guidewire software, specifically in

PolicyCenter transitioning several markets to the Guidewire system.

This is a remote role but does require 2 onsite days a month.

Must live within 100 miles of Coppell, TX. We cannot sponsor for this role.

    What You'll Do

    • Every day you will be working on your sprint stories. We work in 2-week sprints using Agile framework. Most days are development days. You'll be coding in Gosu, using Studio - a version of IntelliJ customized for Guidewire development.

    • Your development story for that sprint may include batches, user interface (UI) changes, message queues, web service integrations, making changes to page configuration files or writing unit tests using Guidewire's unit testing framework.

    • All of our developers also support testing stories by designing or executing testing plans.

    • You will also make presentations to other developers during our code review sessions. Depending on the complexity of the tasks reviewed, this can be as few as 2 teammates or the whole team of over 70 developers on a dev forum. You will also present stories you've worked on during sprint reviews including the development team as well as product owners and other stakeholders. You may also present at these meetings to over 100 people.

    What You'll Need

    • To thrive in this role, you should have experience in a production environment. You know you will sometimes be on call. You'll triage any tickets that come in, troubleshoot, fix bugs, and review logs to get to the root cause of any issues.

    • You have worked previously with an Agile team or understand these concepts. You can expect to participate in daily standup meetings, you'll complete your projects or stories during our sprints, and you're ready to meet frequent deployment deadlines.

    • Prior experience with Guidewire is excellent, particularly if you've worked with PolicyCenter doing integration and configurations.

    • You have extensive experience with Java, Javascript, SQL, Gosu, IntelliJ, and Studio for coding new features, and you're able to use Mulesoft to build APIs and React or Node.js to work on digital apps.

    • Integration with different web services is a key component of this role, so your understanding of Postman, simple object access protocol (SOAP), and representational state transfer (REST) will be helpful.

    • You're comfortable speaking and presenting in front of 20 or more people. You are able to clarify and explain complex technical concepts to others who may be less tech savvy
