Founded in 2010, the Catholic League for the Poor of Nigeria, Inc. ("CLPN") is an IRS 501(c)(3) organization working toward the design and construction of a modern Western style hospital for the poor in Southeastern Nigeria. We believe that we will achieve this through the creation of volunteer and professional assistance networks who hold a strong commitment to help the overseas poor, while the poor still reside in their own homeland. To wait to provide medical care until after the poor become refugees in a foreign land often is too little too late
Job Description
VOLUNTEER POSITION
CLPN's Grant Writer is responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to grant-making organizations and will persuasively communicate CLPN's mission and programs to potential funders. The Grant Writer will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with granter contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines. This position requires someone who has excellent research, writing, and communication skills, is self-motivated, reliable, organized, thorough and timely. This is a volunteer position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with team to develop and implement an annual development plan/strategy to increase annual grant income
• Develop/write grant proposals to foundations and grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating organization's mission and programs to potential funders
• Assemble/submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations
• Conduct prospect research
• Report progress in grant research, grant submission and outcome to CLPN's leadership
Qualifications
Previous grant writing and fundraising experience helpful but not necessary as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) Grant Writing Course may be offered to qualified candidates.

Time Commitment: The minimum commitment is an average of 10-15 hours per week including a weekly one-on-one meeting with the President and monthly report during Board of Director meetings.
