Position Title: Quality Data Abstractor
Position Summary: Abstracts, validates, and reports clinical information from electronic medical records to support mandated and ad hoc hospital quality reporting, process improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance. Ensures data submission is accurate, complete and timely. Proficient in medical terminology, quality reporting measures, and databases. Working knowledge of medical record and applicable clinical workflow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for accurate and timely quality data abstraction through detailed chart reviews required for submission for Regulatory, Accreditation, CMS, and benchmark reporting.
  • Generate performance improvement reports from quality databases, including monthly reports for distribution/analysis of findings as well as ad hoc reports

  • Summarize, analyze, and provide data support for organizational leaders (trending, dashboards, opportunity identification, benchmarking) to use in quality improvement activities

  • Identifies streamlining, documentation, and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process and collaborates with clinical and Information Technology leadership to enhance the quality of documentation required to appropriately reflect the high quality of care provided in the reported categories
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry standards by proactively assessing changes in healthcare regulation, accreditation standards and operational best practices through available resources and professional development opportunities to serve as educational resource to the organization
