Serve as a senior individual contributor responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and improving an existing OutSystems 11 application that supports critical business operations. Partner closely with project management and business stakeholders to translate priorities into practical technical solutions, improve application maintainability and architecture, reduce architectural and operational overhead, and help shape the roadmap for future features. This role is hands on, with senior level expectations for solution design, code quality, mentoring, and application ownership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Design, build, test, and deliver enhancements and maintenance changes for an existing OutSystems 11 application, ensuring solutions are reliable, supportable, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Own technical design decisions for the application, including module structure, data flows, integration patterns, and maintainability improvements that reduce technical debt and improve long term application health.
  • Support production needs for the application, including troubleshooting defects, diagnosing root causes, and developing hotfixes when necessary to restore or protect business operations.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve performance, reliability, observability, and overall operational efficiency of the platform, including reduction of architectural and operational overhead where appropriate.
  • Optimize application and database performance through strong engineering practices, including SQL Server query tuning, efficient data access patterns, regression prevention, and disciplined release quality.
  • Provide senior level technical leadership through code reviews, design reviews, mentoring, and practical guidance that helps other developers improve quality, consistency, and delivery confidence.
  • Partner with project management and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, sequence work, and create pragmatic implementation plans for future features and platform improvements.
  • Design and support integrations with internal and external systems using REST APIs and sound integration patterns, with event driven design experience considered a strong plus.
  • Contribute to engineering standards for OutSystems development, including documentation, code organization, release discipline, and support readiness for a business-critical enterprise application.
  • Communicate progress, blockers, and technical risks clearly, and maintain useful technical documentation that supports ongoing ownership of the application.
  • Help establish a sustainable path for future development by balancing short term business needs with long term maintainability, scalability, and platform evolution.
  • Technical writing, stakeholder management, solution ownership, performance troubleshooting, practical system design, and thoughtful code and design review.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated senior level experience delivering and supporting business critical applications, with direct professional experience developing in OutSystems 11 required. Practical depth and track record matter more than a fixed number of years.
  • Strong experience enhancing and maintaining existing enterprise applications, including solution design, debugging across application and data layers, and making sound tradeoffs in a fast-moving delivery environment.
  • Hands on expertise with OutSystems 11 development, including building and modifying modules, working within platform guardrails, troubleshooting issues, and improving maintainability and performance of existing applications.
  • Strong experience with REST API integrations. Experience with event driven design is a significant plus.
  • Strong SQL Server skills, including query optimization and performance tuning in support of application responsiveness and stability.
  • Practical experience partnering directly with business stakeholders and project managers to turn needs into clear technical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and the ability to lead through influence, design clarity, and execution.
  • Healthcare experience is a plus, especially work involving electronic medical records or adjacent regulated workflows.
