The Category Analyst supports U.S. category development initiatives through data analysis, reporting, and execution tracking. This role provides analytical support for customer meetings, promotional planning, pricing strategy, and new item launches while maintaining key trackers and performance dashboards.

The Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring accurate data, actionable insights, and disciplined execution across customer initiatives. The role is also critical in evaluation of investment and re-investment tactics to create a profitable and productive P&L.

What You'll Do

Customer & Sales Support

  • Prepare analytical materials and data summaries for customer meetings.
  • Support Category Development Managers with ad hoc customer analysis requests.
  • Build pre- and post-meeting performance recaps.
  • Assist in the development of customer presentations with supporting data and charts.

Promotional & Pricing Analysis

  • Conduct promotional effectiveness analysis, including lift, ROI, and post-event performance.
  • Perform price analysis to evaluate elasticity, competitive gaps, and margin impact.
  • Maintain and update the promotional tracker to monitor planned vs. actual activity.
  • Identify risks and opportunities tied to promotional cadence and pricing strategies.
  • Track, report, and provide ongoing promotional guidance based on competitive activities and evolving category trends
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations on differing depths and levers in regard to promo to optimize best go-forward plans

Execution & Tracking

  • Track SKU rationalization (SKU RAT) execution and monitor progress against plans.
  • Support SLOB (Slow Moving & Obsolete Inventory) sell-off analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain distribution and void tracking where applicable.
  • Monitor compliance against approved assortment changes.
  • Aid the category manager in providing assortment recommendations

Competitive & Market Monitoring

  • Conduct competitive ad tracking in all channels
  • Monitor competitor promotional activity and pricing shifts.
  • Provide summaries of competitive trends and implications for the business.

Innovation & Launch Support

  • Maintain new item launch tracking, including distribution, velocity, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor post-launch performance and highlight risks or gaps.
  • Support post-launch reporting and performance scorecards.

Data & Reporting

  • Analyze syndicated data (e.g., NielsenIQ, Circana, Numerator), retailer POS, and internal sales data.
  • Maintain recurring dashboards and trackers to ensure data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support monthly category insight reporting.
  • Ensure data integrity across reporting tools and systems.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in CPG analytics, category management, sales analytics, or related field.
  • Experience working with syndicated data platforms (e.g., NielsenIQ, Circana).
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling); PowerPoint proficiency required.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
