Job description

Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking an experienced Senior Business Applications Engineer to join our team. The Senior Applications Engineer is responsible for the design, development, administration, and optimization of the firmโ€™s New Business Intake (NBI) platform built on Intapp Open. This role serves as a technical lead for application configuration, workflow development, system integrations, and platform enhancements that support the firmโ€™s client and matter intake processes.

The engineer partners with Risk, Compliance, Finance, and IT teams to ensure efficient onboarding of new clients and matters while maintaining compliance with firm policies and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong expertise in workflow automation, form design, integrations, APIs, and SQL-based data management.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Platform Administration & Engineering
    • Administer, configure, and maintain Intapp Open with a focus on New Business Intake (NBI) and related modules.
    • Manage system environments, upgrades, patches, and performance optimization.
    • Maintain configuration standards, documentation, and governance practices.
    • Serve as the Firmโ€™s primary technical expert for the Intapp application stack.
  • Form & Workflow Design
    • Design and enhance intake workflows, forms, approval routing, and automation.
    • Develop dynamic forms, validations, and business logic.
    • Configure notifications, escalations, and conditional routing.
    • Partner with Risk & Compliance to ensure workflows align with firm policies.
  • Integrations & API Management
    • Build and support integrations using Integration Builder.
    • Integrate intake processes with systems like Aderant Expert/Sierra and CRM or Experience db.
    • Perform data mapping, transformation, and synchronization across platforms.
  • Support & Troubleshooting
    • Provide Tier 2/3 support for application and integration issues.
    • Diagnose workflow errors, API failures, and data inconsistencies.
    • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve complex problems.
  • Data Management & Reporting
    • Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting, data validation, and issue resolution.
    • Ensure data integrity across intake and downstream systems.
    • Support analytics tied to intake operations, compliance, and risk metrics.
  • Project & Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Partner with Finance, Risk & Compliance, IT, and Practice Groups to translate requirements into technical solutions.
    • Contribute to upgrades, new feature rollouts, and process redesign initiatives.
    • Act as a liaison between business teams and technical stakeholders.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years supporting enterprise applications in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Intapp Open administration and configuration.
  • Strong experience with Integration Builder, REST APIs, and SOAP web services
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Experience with system integrations and data mapping.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with legal intake, conflicts, and risk management processes.
  • Experience with workflow automation, data governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Involvement in large-scale system upgrades or migrations.
  • Understanding of the matter lifecycle, billing, conflicts, and client intake processes.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data quality.
