Remote Full Stack Software Developer information

Can a full stack developer work remotely?

Yes, full stack developers can work remotely, as many companies offer remote positions that require skills in front-end and back-end development, programming languages, and collaboration tools. Remote work for this role often depends on company policies and project requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Full Stack Software Developer position, and why are they important?

A Remote Full Stack Software Developer needs strong programming expertise in both front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks) and back-end technologies (such as Node.js, Python, Java), often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), cloud services (such as AWS or Azure), databases, and common frameworks (React, Angular, Django, etc.) is highly valued, and certifications in these areas can be advantageous. Effective communication, time management, and self-motivation are critical soft skills for collaborating with distributed teams and managing tasks independently. These competencies enable developers to deliver robust, scalable software solutions while navigating the challenges of remote work environments.

Which company is 100% remote?

Many companies hire remote full stack software developers and operate entirely remotely, including organizations like GitLab, Automattic, and Basecamp. These companies often have distributed teams, flexible schedules, and rely on collaboration tools such as Slack and GitHub. Job seekers should verify each company's remote policy before applying.

What does the typical workday look like for a Remote Full Stack Software Developer?

Remote Full Stack Software Developers usually start their day with a virtual stand-up meeting to align with team members on project progress and priorities. Throughout the day, they split their time between front-end and back-end development tasks, debugging, code reviews, and collaborating via chat or video calls. They often work independently but are expected to stay responsive to team communications and contribute to agile workflows. A typical week may also include planning sessions, knowledge sharing, and opportunities to mentor or be mentored by peers. This structure allows for both autonomy and meaningful collaboration within a supportive remote team environment.

What is a Remote Full Stack Software Developer job?

A Remote Full Stack Software Developer is responsible for building and maintaining both the front-end and back-end of web applications while working from a remote location. They work with various technologies, including databases, APIs, server-side programming, and client-side frameworks, to create fully functional applications. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of multiple programming languages, and the ability to collaborate with remote teams using communication and project management tools.

Will Fullstack be replaced by AI?

Full Stack Software Developers perform tasks that involve designing, coding, and maintaining both frontend and backend systems. While AI tools can assist with coding and automate certain repetitive tasks, they are unlikely to fully replace the need for human developers who require problem-solving, creativity, and understanding of complex systems. The role is expected to evolve with AI integration, emphasizing skills in AI-assisted development and system architecture.

Are full stack devs still in demand?

Full stack software developers are currently in high demand due to their versatility in handling both front-end and back-end development. Employers seek these professionals for their ability to work across multiple technologies, including JavaScript, Python, and cloud platforms, often requiring knowledge of frameworks like React or Node.js. The demand is expected to remain strong as companies continue to prioritize agile, full-spectrum development skills.

Job description

Job Title: Software Engineer, Full Stack
Location: Remote
Division: Technology
Department: Engineering
About Us
Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) (Nasdaq: QUBT) is an innovative, integrated photonics company that provides accessible and affordable quantum machines to the world today. We are the pioneers of Entropy Quantum Computing (EQC), utilizing open quantum systems to solve NP-hard optimization problems. The Company's portfolio offers unique capabilities in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and remote sensing.
Position Description
We are seeking a Full Stack software engineer to help build the web management interface for our quantum computing devices. You will work across the stack to design REST APIs, implement React and TypeScript interfaces, and integrate with the underlying hardware control services. You will collaborate closely with backend engineers working on the hardware control platform, as well as with UI/UX and Product teams to turn operator workflows into a clean, reliable web experience.
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain a unified React, TypeScript, and Next.js codebase that serves as the central management interface for user access, system administration, and system auditing, deployed in both cloud environments and on-premise hardware appliances.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs that expose device operations, telemetry, and configuration to the web console.
  • Integrate with distributed backend microservices to surface real-time hardware telemetry, job scheduling, and system status in the UI.
  • Implement client-side data visualizations for device state, telemetry streams, and system health.
  • Build configuration and credential management flows, including interfaces for generating, rotating, and auditing device keys and access credentials.
  • Implement network configuration interfaces that replace and extend existing CLI-based workflows, giving operators a browser-based alternative to restricted shell access.
  • Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) across the API and UI layers to enforce permissions and view-level security.
  • Manage runtime configuration so the application connects to the correct service endpoints across cloud and on-premise deployments.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for deploying the console alongside hardware releases, including containerized builds for on-premise appliances.
  • Partner with backend, UI/UX, and Product teams to translate operator workflows into reliable, well-tested features.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building full-stack web applications.
  • Frontend experience with React and TypeScript, including building interfaces for technical or operator-facing users.
  • Backend experience in Python, including building REST APIs with FastAPI, Flask, Django REST Framework, or similar.
  • Experience contributing to web management consoles, from REST API endpoints through UI implementation, and key and credential management.
  • Familiarity with real-time data flows (WebSockets, SSE, or streaming telemetry endpoints) on either the server or client side.
  • Working knowledge of web security fundamentals (OWASP Top 10, XSS/CSRF mitigation) and experience with authenticated sessions using OAuth2/OIDC.
  • Experience implementing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) in the UI, the API, or both.
  • Comfort with modern CSS layout (Grid, Flexbox) and implementing UI/UX designs.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices for deploying web applications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with systems that manage cryptographic keys, credentials, or sensitive device configuration.
  • Exposure to on-premise or appliance deployment models, including runtime configuration across cloud and local environments.
  • Experience with containerized deployments (Docker).
  • Experience with Next.js.
  • Exposure to data visualization libraries (D3.js, Three.js, or similar) for representing device state, network topology, or telemetry.

Skills
Python, React, TypeScript, Next.js, REST APIs, WebSockets, CSS3, SCSS, Responsive Design, OAuth2, OIDC, OWASP, RBAC, Docker, CI/CD
