Job description

Basic Function

HF Sinclair's Senior Manager, Communication (Operations) is responsible for the development and execution of strategic internal and external communications supporting HF Sinclair’s Operations organization, which includes refining, midstream, asphalt and renewables. Leads a team of communications professionals and supports the Executive Vice President of Operations and leadership across all operational areas. Provides guidance on stakeholder engagement, enhances organizational reputation and serves as a key member of the emergency response team.

Job Duties

Communications

  • Leads strategic communications across operations segment, reinforcing One HF Sinclair values and aligning with business strategy.
  • Develops and delivers timely, effective communications to diverse stakeholders, including leadership messaging, employee engagement and external presentations.
  • Oversees all segment communication channels, including intranet, social media and more.
  • Supports corporate initiatives with tailored tactics for operational roles.
  • Plans and executes division-wide communication events (e.g., town halls) to support consistent, professional experiences aligned with business goals.

Public Affairs

  • Oversees development and execution of site-related Engagement Plans, aligning with corporate initiatives and supporting community advisory panels.
  • Leads community investment strategy for operations, collaborating with regional leads to meet local business and community needs.
  • Guides internal community support campaigns to enhance employee morale and community awareness.

Issues Management

  • Protects and strengthens HF Sinclair’s reputation through proactive and reactive communication strategies.
  • Develops Issue Notes and key messaging for emerging and immediate issues.
  • Plays a key role in the incident command structure, supporting emergency response efforts.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Directly leads the Communications and Stakeholder Relations Advisors, embedded in operations.
  • Provides mentorship, strategic direction, and performance oversight to support alignment with organizational goals.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience working with senior management and stakeholders within a large and complex organization.
  • Experience working with unionized operating facilities and/or remote workforce is preferred.
  • Experience leading and/or implementing projects to completion within a changing environment.
Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, Journalism or associated field.

Required Skills
  • Exceptional ability to deliver strategic communication guidance and planning.
