About the opportunity

We are looking for a Director of Finance to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the President (with a dotted line to the CEO), this role is both strategic and hands-on: you will own Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Tax, and Cash Management, while serving as a trusted strategic advisor to the business.

You will be responsible for building the financial operational foundation that supports our global growth, ensuring that transparency and a startup mindset remain at the heart of our financial operations.

About you

Professional Background

  • Experience: 7+ years in finance leadership, ideally within B2B SaaS, open-source, or high-growth tech environments.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of US GAAP and experience building financial reporting systems from the ground up.

  • Data-Driven: Proven track record in FP&A, cash forecasting, and using data to improve financial performance.

  • Scaleup DNA: You thrive in remote-first, globally distributed environments and are happy to adopt new ways of working.

  • Tools: Ideal candidate has experience with software like QuickBooks, Carta, HubSpot, and other financial, tax, and sales/marketing tools

Mindset & Values

  • Transparency: Clear communication in decision-making and reporting.

  • Startup Mindset: A bias toward action and the ability to balance long-term strategy with "hands-on" tactical execution.

  • Collaborative Leader: Ability to act as a bridge between finance, engineering, and sales teams.

Your Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Controls

  • Full-Cycle Oversight: Lead full-cycle accounting in close collaboration with the Europe-based Accounting Manager.

  • Compliance: Ensure all financial reporting aligns with US GAAP standards.

  • Audit Readiness: Own the preparation and successful execution of the company’s first external financial audit.

  • Internal Controls: Build and improve financial controls, processes, and documentation to support a scalable and audit-ready finance function.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Forecasting & Budgeting: Build and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial models, forecasts, and budgets.

  • Performance Metrics: Define and track key SaaS metrics (KPIs), translating complex data into actionable recommendations for the leadership team.

  • Business Partnering: Provide strategic insights to support product growth and regional expansion.

Cash Flow & Treasury

  • Liquidity Management: Monitor and manage working capital and global cash flow.

Tax compliance

  • Global Tax Strategy: Partner with external CPA firms to manage all filings and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

  • International Tax Planning and Compliance: Collaborate with the President on international tax matters and optimization.

Sales & Marketing Financial Partnership

  • Commercial Finance Partnership: Partner with Sales and Marketing to evaluate the financial logic, efficiency, and expected returns of commercial initiatives, budgets, and spending decisions

Together we will
  • Mature and professionalize the finance organization into a true business partner

  • Drive financial visibility, transparency, and accountability across all teams

  • Build scalable systems, processes, and reporting that support our next phase of growth

Interview Process
  • Introductory video call

  • Interview with hiring manager

  • 2 x Interview with Founders

  • Reference check

  • Offer: Embark on your journey with VictoriaMetrics
