A remote forensic nurse is a registered nurse who specializes in providing forensic examinations, documentation, and support to victims of trauma or violence, such as sexual assault, through telehealth or digital platforms. They work remotely, often collaborating with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and legal professionals to collect evidence, offer expert testimony, and support patient care. Remote forensic nurses use secure technology to guide onsite healthcare staff, review digital evidence, and ensure proper procedures are followed while maintaining patient confidentiality. This role allows forensic nursing services to reach underserved or rural communities where in-person specialists may not be available.
