Role Overview
Join our analytics organization as a Principal AI Engineer. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of enterprise AI capabilities integrated with our data platform. This is a hands-on engineering role serving as the senior AI-focused technical contributor, responsible for building practical, production-ready AI solutions that enhance data accessibility and accelerate analytics insights across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of LLM-enabled analytics capabilities leveraging Snowflake and Cortex AI features.
  • Develop natural language-to-SQL solutions that allow business users to query enterprise data using conversational interfaces.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to design semantic data models that support reliable AI-driven query generation.
  • Build prototype AI applications that demonstrate new capabilities and validate high-value business use cases.
  • Guide the transition of AI prototypes into scalable, production-ready solutions.
  • Establish architectural patterns for applying LLM technologies to structured enterprise data environments.
  • Identify high-impact opportunities for AI within analytics, reporting, and decision support.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies, tools, and platform capabilities for potential adoption.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to analytics and data engineering team members.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience: 7+ years of experience in data, analytics, engineering, or applied AI roles. Demonstrated experience building or prototyping AI/LLM-driven solutions in enterprise environments is required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and Python. Strong understanding of modern data warehouse architecture and analytics data modeling practices. Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and tools such as DBT, Microsoft 365, Workday, or Salesforce is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the Snowflake data platform, particularly Cortex AI functionality.
  • Familiarity with Matillion with Python.
  • Knowledge of PHP.
  • Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry.
Work Environment
This position is remote and operates within Central Standard Time (CST). The role involves approximately 70% hands-on development and 30% in meetings. You will work closely with the internal data team, acting as a key consumer of data engineering outputs to ensure semantic layer requirements are met. This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities but will provide technical leadership and guidance.
