Account Manager Texturants Food - Remote
Nature and Scope
ADM Texturants offers a variety of ingredient solutions to the food, industrial and pharmaceutical markets. These ingredients include lecithin and polyols. The function of the Account Manager is to own, develop and grow existing and new Texturants customers within the food segment in North America (US and Canada) as well as cross-sell/promote ADM's full pantry of products including flavors, colors, proteins, wholesome, and health and wellness ingredients. This role provides exposure to ADM's customer account selling process, product discovery, market intelligence, product applications, and marketing activities; focused within the food segment with emphasis on bakery applications.
While this position will be open to remote work, if residency is near one of ADM's locations including Decatur, IL, Chicago, IL, Erlanger, KY, Cranbury, NJ, etc; expectations would include a flexible in-office schedule. This role will utilize the Decatur IL business team and location for support, reporting to the Director of Sales, Texturants NA.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Managing and developing relationships across key customer influencers and decision makers.
  • Find, vet, and evaluate new business opportunities to develop lecithin and polyol market share with existing customer demand but also actively participate in new developments involving texturant inclusions and cross-selling the nutrition portfolio of ingredients.
  • Gathering and using relevant market information to the input and design of the business strategy at customer, market, pricing, and product level.
  • Interfacing with a portfolio of customers; negotiate sales contracts.
  • Managing sales contract execution from commercial agreement to delivery on time.
  • Develops and executes account plans for new and existing customers.
  • Must be able to define and deliver the annual sales plan for assigned market established by the business managers.
  • Managing sales volumes, pricing, credit issues, and contract status via interaction with the business support teams.
  • Employing customer related systems ranging from planning tools to CRM systems including SalesForce.com.
  • Coordinating special customer requirements through organization.
  • Prepares action plans for effective search of sales leads and prospects including hunting for new business.
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets according to the strategic roadmap.
  • Provides timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
  • Maintains accurate records of all pricings, sales, activity reports and contract balances.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports to share with business leaders to ensure individual set goals are being met.
  • Ability to travel 30-50% of the time.
Education/ Experience:
  • Minimum - Bachelor's Degree.  Science-related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the food ingredient or supplement industry.
  • Proven experience building new and existing relationships with key customers for food ingredients, including those in key strategic decision-making positions at headquarter level.
  • Superior strategic and tactical business planning skills.
