The team identifies emerging opportunities within the dietary supplement and consumer health industries and translates scientific advancements and market insights into innovative solutions that drive customer success and business growth.
Working closely with Marketing, Sales, Product Innovation, Regulatory Affairs, Technical Services, and global teams, this function plays a critical role in shaping innovation strategy, informing portfolio development, and strengthening Novonesis' position as a trusted industry leader.
The Role and Your Impact:
  • As the Principal you will Drive Strategic Innovation & Market Intelligence
  • Monitor and analyze emerging scientific, consumer, healthcare, retail, regulatory, and technology trends impacting the dietary supplement and consumer health industries.
  • Develop forward-looking innovation forecasts and strategic recommendations that support long-term growth and portfolio development.
  • Identify market opportunities and translate insights into actionable innovation strategies.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Convert market trends, consumer insights, and scientific developments into commercially viable innovation platforms and product concepts.
  • Support product development pipelines and commercialization initiatives with data-driven recommendations.
  • Develop positioning frameworks that connect science, consumer needs, and business opportunities.
  • Create customer-ready innovation concepts and value propositions that support account development and growth objectives.
  • Partner with commercial teams to inspire customers and identify new opportunities across strategic accounts.
  • Facilitate innovation workshops, concept ideation sessions, and customer engagements.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, white papers, trend reports, educational content, and innovation narratives.
  • Translate complex scientific information into clear, compelling business and customer-facing messages.
  • Serve as a scientific and commercial thought leader internally and externally.
  • Represent Novonesis at industry conferences, trade shows, customer summits, and other key events.

What you will need to be successful:
  • PhD in Nutrition, Food Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Human Health, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience within dietary supplements, functional ingredients, nutrition, consumer health, or related industries.
  • Experience spanning both scientific and commercial business environments.
  • Strong understanding of ingredient science, dietary supplement product development, consumer trends, and commercialization processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate scientific findings into business opportunities and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience developing innovation concepts, health platforms, product strategies, or pipeline recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting B2B ingredient businesses.
  • Experience in probiotics, microbiome science, functional nutrition, or consumer health.
  • Experience presenting at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events.
  • Familiarity with syndicated market research and commercial insight tools.
  • Experience working in global matrix organizations.
  • Experience facilitating customer workshops and innovation sessions.
  • strategic thinking and the ability to influence innovation decisions through market-informed recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and thought leadership skills, including executive-level presentations and public speaking.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management capabilities across functions, regions, and cultures.
  • Ability to identify opportunities with meaningful commercial impact and drive them to execution.

Ways of Working:
  • Hybrid work environment with preference for West Allis or Madison, WI or Franklinton, NC. Remote for unique situations in approved states
  • Significant collaboration across North American and global teams.
  • Regular customer interactions, innovation workshops, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Travel requirements include customer visits, conferences, trade shows, customer summits, and internal meetings. Approximately 10-20% travel is anticipated.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Expected base salary: $175,000 - $190,000 level, dependent on experience
  • 401(k) with up to a 9% company contribution
