Food Safety & Quality Manager

Job Summary:
As the Manager of Food Safety & Quality at GoodPop, you'll play a key role in ensuring every customer enjoys a delightful experience, every time they enjoy a GoodPop product.
The FSQ Manager will support the execution, day-to-day administration and ongoing improvement of GoodPop's Quality program, ensuring production operations - from raw materials to finished products - meet our established quality standards across our co-manufacturing network. This role is primarily focused on execution, compliance support, audit readiness, and day-to-day quality operations across GoodPop's manufacturing network.


This remote role requires 40% travel to visit our co-manufacturing partners to audit, train, and ensure compliance with quality standards. This role will report to the Director of Manufacturing.


Duties/Responsibilities:
Support the maintenance of GoodPop's established quality standards, contract manufacturer codes of conduct, key manufacturing processes, and KPIs
Execute standardized quality expectations for all SKUs across various contract manufacturing partners
Review all ingredient Certificates of Analysis (COAs), file internally, and communicate externally as needed
Responsible for external certifications pertaining to organic, non-GMO, and kosher - including maintenance, renewal, and execution to keep all certificates current
Review specifications with R&D-including ingredient statements, nutrition facts, and allergen declarations to ensure accuracy across all SKUs
Assist with onboarding of new supplier partners and new SKUs, and help maintain efficient ways of working and compliance with product specifications.
Participate in monthly operations calls and quarterly business reviews with co-manufacturers
Work cross-functionally with Innovation Project Teams to represent quality in the commercialization of new products
Coordinate with the Supply Chain team to ensure appropriate storage and handling of raw materials through finished product
Monitor cold chain integrity across co-manufacturers and distribution partners to ensure frozen product quality and safety standards are maintained
Conduct contract manufacturer audits and quality control checks in accordance with established audit schedules
Support HACCP plan reviews and verify that Critical Control Points (CCPs) are being monitored and documented appropriately at co-manufacturing facilities
Monitor and analyze quality data and consumer complaints to identify potential issues
Investigate quality complaints and out-of-standard issues, identify root causes, and support corrective action implementation and escalation as needed
Partner with sales and customer service teams to support resolution of day-to-day quality concerns and escalate trends or significant risks as appropriate.
Administer and maintain documentation associated with GoodPop's approved supplier program, ensuring all ingredient and packaging suppliers meet required food safety and quality standards
Support compliance with contract manufacturers' Food Safety (GFSI) Programs, allergen programs, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Monitor and support compliance with FDA regulations including FSMA Preventive Controls, and applicable CFR requirements
Assist in the development and execution of recall procedures and crisis management efforts
Maintain mock recall readiness, supporting periodic mock recall exercises to ensure traceability and response procedures are effective
Support the management of customer and retailer quality questionnaires, portals, and compliance documentation requests

Required Skills/Abilities:
Minimum of B.S. Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field; professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Quality certification including PCQI or Better Process Control preferred
4–6 years of experience in food safety & quality assurance within a food manufacturing environment, preferably with exposure to contract manufacturers
Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and basic data analytics tools
Familiarity with frozen food, ice cream, novelties, or aseptic processing is a plus
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach
Solid interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across departments
Proficiency in Excel for data tracking and reporting
Remote position with willingness to travel (40%)
