Position Summary:

The Field Quality Manager plays a strategic leadership role in deploying and sustaining quality excellence across field operations, installation processes, and service delivery. This position is accountable for driving 100% First Pass Yield (FPY) and Zero Defects performance while leading continuous improvement initiatives throughout the installation lifecycle. This leader will oversee the implementation, and ongoing improvement of field processes, training programs, installation standards, solar modules, inverters, battery storage systems, and related technologies. The role requires strong collaboration with Escalation, Engineering, Operations, Customer Success, and Installation Partners to ensure consistent execution of quality standards and exceptional customer outcomes.

We are seeking an experienced, results-oriented Quality Engineering leader with a proven track record of driving measurable operational improvements through disciplined application of Specifications (SPECs), Standards, RCCA/8D, FMEA, ANDON CORD methodologies, and Lean Six Sigma principles. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who combines strategic vision with tactical execution. This individual must possess a strong sense of ownership, a relentless commitment to customer success, and the ability to lead across organizational boundaries with humility, integrity, and a can-do attitude. Success in this role requires the ability to build high-performing teams, influence change, and foster a culture of accountability and quality excellence.


Essential Duties:

Quality Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead the development and deployment of strategies to achieve and sustain 100% FPY and Zero Defects across field operations.
  • Champion the adoption and execution of ANDON CORD, RCCA/8D, FMEA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Serve as the primary field quality lead, driving compliance with company specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Process Improvement and Operational Excellence

  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Installation Partners to identify, prioritize, and eliminate sources of field defects and rework.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor measurable quality metrics, including FPY, defect rates, customer satisfaction, and corrective action effectiveness.
  • Lead investigations of field failures, customer escalations, and systemic quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Conduct regular quality reviews and risk assessments to proactively identify improvement opportunities.

Product and Process Validation

  • Evaluate new products, technologies, installation methods, and battery storage solutions to ensure readiness for field implementation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to drive design improvements based on field performance data and customer feedback.

Training and Capability Development

  • Develop and deliver quality training programs for Field Managers, District Installation Managers (DIMs), Regional Installation Managers (RIMs), installation crews, and installation partners.
  • Coach field personnel on quality standards, inspection methods, RCCA processes, FMEA principles, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Foster a culture of quality ownership, accountability, and customer-focused execution across all field organizations.
  • Travel to field locations to observe processes, coach teams, perform quality audits, and support critical customer and operational initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong field presence to ensure rapid issue resolution and continuous improvement execution.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Quality Engineering, Field Operations, Solar or Semiconductor Industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in solar energy systems, battery storage systems, power electronics, or renewable energy technologies.
  • Strong understanding of UL, NEC, IEC, and applicable industry certification.
  • ASQ certifications preferred, including: CQA and CQE.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Department of Energy guidelines, industry standards, electrical codes, and solar installation best practices.
  • Proven track record of improving quality, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and field performance metrics.

Technical and Operational Excellence

  • Experience implementing and sustaining ISO 9001.
  • Strong background working with Design Engineering, Field Operations, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Customer Success organizations.
  • Demonstrated success driving First Pass Yield improvements, defect reduction, and operational excellence initiatives.
