Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health evaluations, including intake assessments and ongoing assessments to formulate comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Develop tailored intervention strategies for various populations, ensuring an individualized approach that supports each client's recovery journey.
  • Lead engaging individual and group therapy sessions, fostering a safe and productive environment for clients to express themselves and work on their mental health goals.
  • Monitor clients' progress throughout their treatment process, adjusting plans as necessary based on their evolving needs and responses to therapy.
  • Collaborate closely with other mental health professionals, such as psychiatrists and social workers, to coordinate care and support for clients who may require additional services.
  • Follow up with clients regularly, especially those who have been hospitalized, to support their reintegration into outpatient therapy.
  • Educate and empower clients and their families about mental health issues, promoting understanding and skills to manage challenges effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of case notes, treatment plans, and progress reports using electronic health record systems like AVATAR.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our practice serves a diverse client population, including individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and behavioral health challenges. We are particularly focused on providing care to underserved communities in Rockville, ensuring access to mental health resources for those who may have limited options. Our counselors are expected to embrace cultural competence and remain sensitive to the unique backgrounds and experiences of our clients.

Qualifications
  • A masterโ€™s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current licensure as an LCMFT, LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW-C in Maryland is essential.
  • A successful score on the National Counselor Exam (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a focus on client engagement and therapeutic rapport.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and a deep understanding of mental health challenges.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in a mental health counseling role, with a solid foundation in various therapeutic modalities.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems, specifically AVATAR, to ensure efficient documentation and client management.
  • Experience working with clients with co-occurring physical and mental health conditions, as well as addiction disorders.
  • Knowledge of the best practices established by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and an understanding of psychotropic medications.
