The Fitness Trainer will provide guidance and instruction as well as technical assistance to users in the exercise room. Monitor user exercise and demonstrate corrective techniques to help minimize injury and improve overall fitness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete fitness assessment, consultations and introduction sessions for new user.
  • Provides instruction to all users on how to use all exercise's equipment and free weight properly.
  • Demonstrate activities for user to follow.
  • Demonstrate how to carry out various exercises and routines such as yoga etc.
  • Supervise users to ensure that they are exercising safely and effectively.
  • Creating exercise program that applicable to various ages, that include senior
  • Provide individual support or counseling in general wellness or nutrition.
  • Track attendance, participation, or performance data related to wellness events
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; answering questions and keeping individuals motivated
  • Ability to group problem-solving and able to fix situations quickly, and/or adjust activities for all involved
  • Ability to frequently walk and sit when leading various recreational activities
  • Ability to perform other related duties as required
  • Ability to work flexible shift including weekends as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • HSD or GED required, Associate's degree and/or Fitness Certification preferred
  • 2-3 years relevant fitness experience
  • Must possess strong written and verbal skills, computer and Internet skills, communication and interpersonal skills, time management, creative writing skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Compassion and desire to work with the senior population
  • Driver's License in good standing and experience working with elders preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred
