Job description

A rapidly growing technology services organization is seeking its first true Chief Financial Officer to help scale the business from approximately $500 million in annual revenue to more than $1 billion over the next several years.

This is not a turnaround, restructuring, or accounting clean-up opportunity. The company has strong financial controls, clean audits, established lender relationships, and an experienced finance operations team already in place. The need is for a strategic finance leader who can build a world-class FP&A function, improve profitability, evaluate acquisitions, and help create the financial roadmap for the next stage of growth. The organization operates nationally, serves a diverse customer base across public and private sectors, and combines product resale, professional services, and recurring managed services offerings. The company remains founder-led, profitable, and growth-focused, with a long-term vision that may ultimately include public-company readiness.

As CFO, you will serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and executive leadership team. You will own financial planning and analysis, forecasting, margin improvement initiatives, acquisition evaluation, and long-range strategic financial planning. This role is ideal for a finance executive who enjoys operating at the intersection of strategy, operations, growth, and execution. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical rigor while maintaining the practical mindset necessary to support a fast-growing entrepreneurial organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & FP&A

  • Build and lead a scalable FP&A function
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial modeling
  • Develop monthly and quarterly business review processes
  • Improve forecasting accuracy across multiple business lines
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to executive leadership
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and operating leaders

Profitability & Margin Improvement

  • Analyze profitability across products, services, customers, and business units
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve service delivery economics
  • Evaluate pricing, utilization, staffing models, and resource allocation
  • Identify opportunities to improve operating leverage and financial performance
  • Develop reporting and visibility around margin drivers and profitability trends

Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Lead financial evaluation and diligence of acquisition opportunities
  • Build acquisition models and investment analyses
  • Evaluate revenue quality, customer concentration, working capital, and integration risk
  • Support transaction structuring and post-acquisition planning
  • Help drive inorganic growth initiatives

Corporate Finance Leadership

  • Lead corporate finance strategy and financial planning processes
  • Partner with accounting, operations, HR, legal, and executive leadership teams
  • Maintain strong lender, banking, and financial partner relationships
  • Ensure continued financial discipline and audit readiness while scaling

Required Experience

  • Significant FP&A leadership experience in a complex operating environment
  • Experience supporting product resale, distribution, technology services, managed services, professional services, or similar business models
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic planning capabilities
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership teams on growth initiatives
  • Track record improving profitability and operational performance
  • Experience evaluating acquisitions and supporting M&A activity
  • Ability to translate financial analysis into practical business decisions

Why Join?

  • Opportunity to build the strategic finance function for a growing organization
  • Direct partnership with an entrepreneurial founder and executive team
  • Significant influence on long-term company strategy
  • Opportunity to help scale a business beyond $1 billion in revenue
  • Active acquisition strategy and growth initiatives
  • Strong existing financial foundation
  • Potential long-term equity and incentive opportunities
  • Remote work environment with executive-level visibility and impact

Compensation

Competitive executive compensation package including base salary, bonus opportunity, and long-term incentive potential. Compensation will be tailored to the experience and capabilities of the selected candidate.

Location

Remote within the United States with periodic travel to company locations, executive meetings, acquisition targets, and strategic business events.
