About LSNF: Legal Services of North Florida (LSNF) isa nonprofit civil legal aid organization dedicated to providing high-qualitylegal representation to low-income, vulnerable individuals and families across16 counties in North Florida. With an annual budget exceeding $18 millionfunded by a diverse array of federal, state, foundation, and local grants, aswell as private contributions and fundraising events, our mission is to ensureequal access to justice and empower our community through advocacy, education,and dedicated legal services.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Finance Directorto join our management team at our headquarters in Tallahassee, FL.

Position Overview: Reporting to the ChiefAdministrative Officer, the Finance Director will oversee financial operationsof the organization, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standardsand grant funding requirements. This role will manage grant budgeting, financialforecasting, reporting processes, grant billing/reporting, and superviseaccounting staff. Qualified applicants must have a high-level of comfort withthe Microsoft Office Suite and use of office technology to function as part ofboth a local and virtual team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented,committed to excellence, works well in a team environment, and is ready tocontribute strategically to maintain the organization's fiscal health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management & Reporting
    • Prepare and monitor the annual organizational budget for executive leadership and board approval.
    • Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the Board of Directors and senior management.
    • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial record-keeping, internal controls, and compliance with grant and audit requirements.
  • Grant Management & Compliance
    • Collaborate with program staff to prepare grant budgets, financial reports, and maintain accurate expenditure tracking.
    • Ensure compliance with grant regulations, funder requirements, and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Leadership & Supervision
    • Directly supervise and mentor accounting staff, including Financial Process Analyst and Fiscal Clerks, ensuring professional growth, performance evaluation, and accountability.
    • Serve as an active and strategic member of the organization's management team.
  • Administration & Operational Oversight
    • Coordinate payroll disbursements, oversee procurement processes, vendor payments, and accounts payable.
    • Manage financial aspects of lease agreements, real estate properties, and oversee investment of surplus funds based on the Financial Oversight Committee's recommendations.
  • Professional Development
    • Maintain current knowledge of tax laws, federal regulations, and accounting best practices.
    • Participate in professional training and statewide administrative conferences to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in accounting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred:

  • Experience with MIP accounting software strongly preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience.
  • Nonprofit or grant accounting experience, especially related to federal, state, or local grant programs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive a vehicle.
  • Proficiency in typing and computer use.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move boxes, equipment, and other items.

Work Environment:

  • Regular, full-time hours on-site in Tallahassee, FL.
  • Occasional travel required to regional office locations, meetings, and training/conferences.
  • Expected commitment of 40 hours per week on average; additional hours occasionally required based on organizational needs.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary starting at $70,000 annually, negotiable depending on experience. Candidates with 10 years of experience or more can expect a salary of $89,600 or higher. Candidates with 20 years of experience or more can expect a salary of $100,100 or higher.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement contributions, paid leave, and opportunities for professional development.
    • Paid time off includes: holidays, sick leave, and personal leave (which after two years, increases to five weeks per year)
    • 100% fully paid health insurance for employee & dependent children after 60 days of employment
    • Employer paid life insurance policy of $25,000
    • Employer contributes 6% to retirement/ 401K plan, after one year of full time service (no match requirement!)
