Position Summary

The Systems Engineer II supports the health data standard team by designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining application systems and technology solutions. This role is responsible for installing and supporting software applications and operating systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to system improvements that support organizational and clinical operations.

The Systems Engineer II works collaboratively with technical and project teams to ensure systems are reliable, effective, and aligned with operational needs.

This position is a hybrid position with at least (1) day of onsite activity based on business needs, this role may be considered remote based on location. POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

System Design & Support

  • Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain application systems and related technologies.
  • Install, configure, and support software applications and operating systems.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot application and system issues.
  • Assist with database design, systems development, and software engineering activities.
  • Support system upgrades, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance efforts.
  • Conduct research on technologies, tools, and technical solutions as assigned.

Technical Knowledge & Continuous Learning

  • Apply knowledge of programming, systems development, software engineering, and database principles.
  • Utilize object-oriented programming concepts, open-source methodologies, and related technologies.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of clinical workflows and clinical terminology.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Three to five years of related experience in information systems, systems engineering, or application support required.
  • Experience in a healthcare or medical environment preferred.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Experience in the following:
    • C# / .NET 8+ — all backend services, APIs, and business logic
    • Entity Framework Core — database access, migrations, LINQ queries, data modeling
    • SQL Server — queries, stored procedures, schema changes
    • ASP.NET Core Web API — REST APIs for internal and external services
    • Git — version control, branching strategies, pull requests, code review

Preferred Technical Skills:

  • PowerShell scripting — automation, build/deploy scripts, ETL processes
  • Blazor Server — primary framework for internal tooling
  • IIS administration — application pools, reverse proxy configuration, deployment
  • Windows Server administration
  • Jenkins or similar CI/CD platform (pipeline configuration, Groovy/Jenkinsfile)
  • Telerik UI for Blazor (or similar commercial UI component library)
  • Docker — container management and deployment
  • Elasticsearch / OpenSearch
