Job Summary
Payscale's Creative team is lean by design and moving faster than it ever has. We're looking for a Marketing Designer who is genuinely AI-native - someone who already has Firefly, Canva AI, and AI-assisted design tools built into their daily workflow. This role is the force multiplier the team needs.
You'll work directly with our head of Creative on everything from research report layouts and product launch kits to social templates, email headers, and ad variants. You're a generalist with real craft - someone who can move from a Figma template to a Canva social variant to an InDesign report section without losing momentum or quality.
What You'll Do
  • Produce campaign assets across all required formats: digital ads (Google Display, LinkedIn, Meta), email headers, social graphics, event materials, and presentation decks - with speed and on-brand quality as equal priorities
  • Design and maintain the research report layout for Payscale's monthly data publications - working from structured data output and narrative copy to produce publication-ready design on a monthly cadence
  • Own the self-service template library in Canva and Figma - building, documenting, and expanding templates that allow Demand Gen, Content, and Comms to produce routine assets without a design ticket
  • Execute asset variants at scale across all required channel sizes using AI-assisted tools - one master design to every required format, fast
  • Handle basic social animation for Instagram Reels and LinkedIn video posts using Canva Animate and Runway - absorbing simpler motion work from the external motion contractor as AI tools mature and your capabilities grow
  • Collaborate across Brand & Demand teams on creative briefs, feedback rounds, and production timelines - you're reliable, communicative, and you protect quality at every handoff

What We're Looking For
  • 3-5 years of design experience in a marketing or in-house creative environment, with a portfolio that demonstrates both craft and range.
  • Adobe Creative Suite proficiency - Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign (particularly for long-form document layout and data report production) and data visualization design experience to translate charts, tables and statistics into accessible, visually clear layouts.
  • Active Adobe Firefly experience
  • Canva AI fluency - Magic Switch, Text to Image, and Brand Kit configured as standard tools.
  • Figma working knowledge - enough to maintain and build templates, collaborate with the design Manager on landing page assets.
  • Strong layout and typography fundamentals - you understand visual hierarchy, data visualization design, and how to make dense information readable. The research reports require genuine layout judgment, not just template filling.
  • Production discipline - you hit deadlines, manage multiple assets in parallel, and communicate clearly when timelines are at risk
  • Self-directed working style - you manage your own queue, flag blockers early, and don't need to be walked through every brief

Nice to Have
  • Basic animation experience - Canva Animate, Runway, Pika, or Adobe After Effects for short-form social video (Instagram Reels, LinkedIn video posts)
  • Motion graphics fundamentals - even basic After Effects familiarity reduces dependency on the external contractor for simpler deliverables
  • B2B or SaaS design experience - understanding enterprise brand standards and how to design for HR/compensation audiences
