Job Summary

As the Fiber Splicing Technician III (Data Center), you will ultimately be responsible for advanced fiber optic splicing, network testing, troubleshooting, and restoration within data center environments. You will coordinate field splicing activities and deliver high-quality fiber network installations that meet customer specifications and industry standards. As the Fiber Splicing Technician III, your customers are hyperscale data center clients and internal project teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to Congruex's success through technical expertise, quality workmanship, and safe project execution.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)

  • Perform advanced fiber optic cable preparation, fusion splicing, testing, troubleshooting, restoration, and documentation for data center and outside plant (OSP) networks.
  • Build, install, and maintain fiber cases, enclosures, tie points, jumper cases, cable management systems, and perform case swaps, audits, and rehabilitation of existing fiber infrastructure.
  • Read splice matrices, blueprints, maps, and construction drawings while performing OTDR testing, power meter testing, end-of-line network validation, and accurate redline documentation.
  • Support cable installation and activation by pulling cable through conduit or duct systems, identifying network faults, and ensuring compliance with company safety and quality standards.
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • OSHA 10 Certification (provided by the company).

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of fiber optic splicing experience in data center and/or outside plant (OSP) environments.
  • Experience performing cable preparation, ribbon and single-fiber fusion splicing, OTDR and power meter testing, troubleshooting, restoration, and splice documentation.

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of fiber optic splicing techniques, splice diagrams, blueprints, and construction drawings.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently and safely.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, distinguish fiber colors, perform basic mathematical calculations, work at heights, and work in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with complex fiber enclosure builds, case swaps, audits, and rehabilitation of gel-filled fiber enclosures.
  • Experience pulling, activating, and testing underground and aerial fiber optic cable systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb ladders, work at heights, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Work performed outdoors, around heavy equipment, and in varying weather conditions while wearing required PPE.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen, if required.
