Where We're Located: SPD is located just off of the Capitol Square of award-winning Madison, Wisconsin, at 17 South Fairchild Street. Position Summary
This position, under general supervision of the Budget and Policy Director, serves as the sole agency accountant. This position is responsible for review and approval of all agency accounts payables, reconciliation of all agency balance sheet accounts, preparation of various financial reports, establishment and maintenance of agency financial journals, accounts, ledgers and records within the state accounting system.

Salary Information
The starting hourly pay range will be between $28.24 and $46.59 and is in pay schedule-range (07-03). A one-year probationary period may be required. Please note that this is an in-office (i.e., non-remote) position.
Permanent classified state employees who are eligible for consideration (transfer, voluntary demotion, or reinstatement) for a position assigned to the stated pay range or counter-part pay range, should complete the application process as described above by the stated deadline.
Final selected candidates may be eligible for moving expense reimbursement to relocate to the place of employment.

Qualifications
LETTER OF QUALIFICATIONS & RESUME: You must submit
both documents in order to be considered. It is important that you clearly explain and elaborate on your experience and/or training in your cover letter and/or resume.
Minimally qualified applicants must have the following experience:
- GAAP and Accounting Principles: Demonstrated ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in financial reporting, including the preparation of financial statements and schedules.
- Accounting System Proficiency: Working knowledge of accounting systems, specifically the state's PeopleSoft accounting system, or similar large-scale ERP software.
- Audit and Reconciliation Skills: Ability to audit accounting information for accuracy and perform complex reconciliations of accounts payable and receivable.
- Fiscal Analysis and Reporting: Ability to analyze fiscal data, identify budget variances, perform trend analysis, and prepare clear, concise reports for management.
Well-qualified applicants will have experience in the following areas:
- Internal Controls: Demonstrated ability to establish, implement, and maintain internal control plans in accordance with state or organizational standards.
- Asset Management: Experience managing fixed asset/inventory databases, including reconciling records and managing property coverage/claims processes.
- Public Sector : Experience performing accounting functions within a municipal, county, state, federal or university system.
