What We Do
Terabase Energy was founded with the mission to accelerate decarbonization of large-scale energy generation beyond intermittent renewable power. Terabase is at the forefront of developing and applying innovative technologies that will remove 70-80% of solar power plant assembly works from the field using a combination of advanced pre-assembly and construction techniques, factory methods, customized equipment, and automation.
The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Systems Engineer to join our team at Terabase Energy. You will be crucial to the success of our innovative solar construction approach and will drive operational excellence in the field. The successful candidate will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and operating our Manufacturing Execution System (MES software), programmable logic controllers, network infrastructure, and other mission-critical software/hardware systems. The candidate will work closely with our field operations team and our design engineering team to ensure that all systems are running efficiently and effectively, serving as the first level of support for Terabase's on-site digital systems. The Field Systems Engineer will troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise while providing training and support to users.
Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, maintain, and operate several factory subsystems, including:
  • Manufacturing Execution System
  • programmable logic controllers
  • network infrastructure
  • software and hardware systems
  • Work with operations and engineering teams to ensure that all systems are running efficiently and effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise with the systems as the on-site technical lead.
  • Correct Tier 1 issues and elevate issues to Tier 2 support engineers.
  • Work closely with the on-site maintenance technician who will service, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Provide training and support to various operations team users.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop and implement new systems and upgrades.
  • Document system design, installation, and maintenance procedures.
  • Keep up to date with emerging trends and technologies in the field.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial/utility field operations, system administration, network administration, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing execution systems, programmable logic controllers, network management and configuration, and associated hardware/software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to isolate, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in networked hardware and software systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • The position is predominantly site-based with projects located across the continental US.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
  • Experience as a Field or Project Engineer.
  • Experience working with customers and/or colleagues in an industrial or mission-critical environment.
  • Experience with some of the following technologies that we frequently use:
  • Structured Text
  • Object-oriented programming
  • Robotic control and vision systems (Fanuc)
  • Industrial automation (Beckhoff controls, TwinCat)
