Position Overview

Sunshine Counseling & Recovery Clinic is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team in Suffolk, Virginia. This position is predominantly remote, allowing you the flexibility to manage your workflow while engaging with patients in your own space. Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments to diagnose and develop appropriate treatment plans for individuals, couples, and families.
  • Leading therapeutic sessions that address issues such as alcohol abuse, grief and loss, family conflict, and adjustment to divorce.
  • Employing evidence-based therapeutic techniques suited to the unique circumstances of each client.
  • Referring clients to additional specialists or resources when necessary to enhance their treatment.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential client records in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Participating in regular team meetings to discuss treatment advancements and case management strategies.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily center on diverse patient groups, including individuals facing emotional turmoil, couples managing relationship challenges, and families seeking to strengthen their dynamics. You will provide care to those struggling with:

  • Alcohol abuse and substance-related issues.
  • Physical and psychological abuse.
  • Grief, loss, and bereavement.
  • Conflict resolution among family members.
  • Adjustment challenges following separation and divorce, especially in blended family settings.
  • Stress and anxiety related to job or medical issues.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field.
  • An active state license to practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • A commitment to ongoing education and adherence to ethical guidelines in mental health counseling.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with previous experience in outpatient settings or those familiar with remote counseling methodologies will have an advantage.
