Professionals in remote eye tracking often encounter challenges such as ensuring data accuracy across different devices and environments, addressing privacy concerns, and troubleshooting technical issues remotely. To address these, it's important to stay updated on the latest eye tracking software and hardware standards, maintain clear communication with participants or clients, and develop strong problem-solving skills for remote diagnostics. Additionally, collaborating closely with UX researchers, developers, or clients helps ensure successful project outcomes and continuous improvement.

What is remote eye tracking?

Remote eye tracking is a technology that allows for the measurement of where a person is looking (their gaze) on a screen or in a real-world environment without requiring them to wear any specialized headgear or glasses. Instead, a camera—often integrated into a monitor or placed nearby—captures eye movements from a distance. This method is widely used in research, usability testing, marketing, and healthcare to understand visual attention and user behavior. Remote eye tracking is non-intrusive and can be used with participants of all ages, providing valuable insights while maintaining comfort.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote eye tracking specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Eye Tracking Specialist, you typically need a background in psychology, neuroscience, human-computer interaction, or a related field, along with strong data analysis skills. Familiarity with eye tracking software (such as Tobii Pro or EyeLink), data visualization tools, and possibly programming languages like Python or MATLAB is valuable. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for interpreting data and collaborating with research teams or clients. These competencies are essential for producing accurate, meaningful insights that drive user experience improvements and scientific research.

Perks include 100% health, vision and dental benefits, 50% 401k match up to 6% of your salary, donation matching, career development training, unlimited PTO, remote work equipment, and free pens. Everyone loves free pens.

Responsibilities
  • Own clients end to end: build their SEO/GEO strategy, execute the deliverables, and lead client calls to present completed work and explain its impact
  • Ideate SEO/GEO roadmaps for client sites based on client KPIs, competitor analysis, site audits, and industry expertise
  • Suggest and implement SEO/GEO best practices for client sites across a range of industries and sizes, including eCommerce, Fintech, and SaaS
  • Audit and optimize high-value product, service, and landing pages across SEO, GEO, and CRO, balancing search rankings, AI citation, and on-page conversion
  • Read and interpret site code to find technical SEO/GEO issues like page speed, site architecture, and crawling or indexing problems
  • Build clear, summarized checklists for every SEO/GEO deliverable that show expected opportunity, lift, and ownership, and make it easy for developers and clients to implement
  • Coordinate and oversee SEO/GEO content creation by writing optimized briefs, and write effective web copy for marketing sites across verticals
  • Run weekly performance analyses (Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Peec AI, and other tools), then compile client reports in Data Studio with insights, recommendations, and clear next steps
  • Create beautiful Google Slides, Sheets, and Docs that drive recommendations and tell stories
  • Brainstorm tests and experiments to improve traditional and AI search presence, content, and user experience
  • Stay up to date on SEO/GEO industry changes and communicate technical improvements to non-technical stakeholders
  • Do whatever it takes to grow the online presence of our clients
Required Skills
  • 3-5 years of experience in an SEO/GEO role
  • Experience analyzing websites with tools like Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and Peec AI or similar AI tracking tools (crawlers, analytics platforms, CMS, marketing software, etc.)
  • Experience tracking and reporting AI search visibility (share of voice, citation and reference rate, and AI-referral traffic) and translating it into clear, actionable recommendations for clients
  • A technical background, with the ability to demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience running a full SEO/GEO site audit and pulling impactful, digestible recommendations from it
  • Deep experience with eCommerce, Fintech, and SaaS clients, plus a solid understanding of how search engines and AI bots crawl, index, and rank websites, and how those tasks work in these industries
  • Ability to analyze data and make impactful recommendations across on-page, off-page, and technical SEO/GEO factors
  • Comfort using LLMs as a tool to speed up SEO/GEO workflows and improve efficiency
  • A deep understanding of on-page, content, technical, and off-page GEO strategies that support client performance in AI search
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to form productive working relationships
  • A history of managing client relationships and providing polished deliverables
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects while still working effectively
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with an eye for good web design
  • Experience using Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs, etc.)
Suggested Skills
  • Experience using a project management tool like Basecamp or Productive
  • Experience with large eCommerce websites and a CMS like WordPress, Shopify, or Webflow. Headless CMS experience is a plus
  • 2-3 years of experience working in an agency environment
  • Experience with product feed optimization and agentic commerce is a major bonus

The salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$95,000.00 DOE.
