Remote External Affairs refers to the management and coordination of an organization's relationships with external stakeholders, such as government agencies, community groups, media, and the public, all conducted remotely. Professionals in this role are responsible for representing their organization’s interests, advocating for policy positions, and building partnerships, often using digital communication tools. How does a remote external affairs professional typically collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders?

Remote External Affairs professionals frequently coordinate with internal teams such as communications, legal, and government relations through virtual meetings and collaboration tools. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, our over 50,000 employees around the globe take on complex challenges to discover and deliver life-changing medicines, strengthen how health is understood and managed, and support the communities we serve. This is hard, urgent, selfless work-but it's work worth doing. If you're driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.

About LillyDirect

LillyDirect is Eli Lilly's direct-to-consumer pharmacy platform, bringing life-changing medicines - including GLP-1 therapies - directly to patients. We are building enterprise-grade payment infrastructure to support this mission, and we are looking for a payments leader who wants to build enterprise-grade capability from the ground up.

This includes ensuring audit readiness for Payment Services.

This role owns B2B vendor contracts - Adyen and future PSPs - including negotiation, renewal. The Sr. Director will also serve as the primary payments point of contact for our international affiliates as LillyDirect expands globally.

  • Contribute operational and financial perspective to ongoing payment tool optimization decisions
Own Vendor Strategy

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Tech@Lilly and LillyDirect Platform Experience to embed automation into payment infrastructure where manual processes currently exist
  • Ensure payment operations perspectives are represented in product and technology roadmap decisions
  • Partner closely with LillyDirect Customer Care, Finance, Platform Experience, and Tech@Lilly on forward-looking initiatives
  • Incorporate operational issues surfaced by the Payment Service Delivery role into roadmap priorities
