Introduction to the Team

Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Traveler and Partner Service Platform, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.

At Expedia Group, we believe travel is a force for good. We are looking for a strategic, people-centered Health & Safety leader to strengthen our programs across offices, remote and hybrid work, business travel, emergency response, and employee wellbeing across the Americas. This leader will ensure our people, workplaces, and operating practices are safe, compliant, resilient, and aligned with how Expedia Group works today - partnering across Physical Security, Global Real Estate and Facilities, People Team, Legal, Communications, and business leaders to translate policy into practical, scalable programs.

In this role, you will:
  • Own and evolve the regional health and safety strategy, roadmap, and annual priorities across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, aligned with enterprise risk, employee experience, and workplace goals.

  • Ensure regional policies, standards, and operating procedures reflect applicable legal and regulatory requirements across the Americas, while remaining practical and scalable for the business.

  • Lead regional preparedness for emergencies and crisis events, including employee accountability, site-specific response readiness, and integration with business continuity plans.

  • Strengthen programs tied to injury and illness reporting, case escalation, corrective actions, root-cause review, and leader accountability.

  • Partner with the People Team on work-related incidents, workers' compensation coordination, return-to-work support, and employee guidance.

  • Advance ergonomic and healthy-working programs that reduce risk and support employees across office, home, and business travel settings.

  • Support wellbeing and psychosocial safety efforts by partnering on workplace crisis protocols, mental health response guidance, and EAP referral pathways.

  • Establish regional metrics, reporting, and governance reviews for incidents, trends, corrective actions, training completion, and program effectiveness.

  • Build strong operating partnerships with Physical Security, Facilities, site leaders, Communications, and HR to coordinate response to workplace incidents and disruptive events.

  • Lead, develop, and inspire team members and regional program owners; influence effectively without direct authority where needed.

  • Manage external partners, consultants, and service providers supporting occupational health, ergonomics, emergency response, training, and regulatory compliance.

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • Significant experience leading health and safety programs in a complex, multi-site organization across the Americas.

  • Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and practical compliance management across the U.S. and at least part of Canada and/or Latin America.

  • Experience leading incident management, emergency preparedness, crisis response, and corrective action programs.

  • Demonstrated success influencing senior leaders and building accountability in a matrixed organization.

  • Strong analytical and program management capabilities, including KPI development, trend analysis, and executive reporting.

  • Proficient communication skills, including the ability to translate regulation and policy into clear guidance for leaders and employees.

  • Experience building inclusive, high-trust working relationships and developing team members.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, public health, risk management, or a related field; or equivalent related professional experience.

  • Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHST, CRSP, or equivalent regional credential.

  • Experience in technology, travel, hospitality, or another fast-paced, geographically distributed environment.

  • Experience supporting business travel risk, crisis communications, ergonomics, and psychosocial risk programs.

  • Working knowledge of workers' compensation, disability coordination, and case management.

  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language capability.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $110,500.00 to $155,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $177,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
