What is remote Epic Go Live Support?

Remote Epic Go Live Support refers to providing virtual assistance to healthcare organizations during the rollout of Epic electronic health record (EHR) systems. This type of support ensures a smoother transition during the critical go-live phase, minimizing disruptions to patient care and daily operations. Remote support is often delivered via phone, chat, or video conferencing, and can be more cost-effective and flexible compared to on-site support.

What are common challenges faced by remote Epic Go Live Support professionals during a project launch?

Remote Epic Go Live Support professionals often encounter challenges such as quickly adapting to different healthcare organizations’ workflows, troubleshooting unexpected technical issues in real-time, and ensuring clear communication with onsite staff. Since support is provided remotely, building trust and rapport with end-users can require extra effort, and efficiently resolving issues without physical presence demands strong problem-solving skills. Additionally, professionals must be prepared to manage high volumes of support requests during peak go-live periods, which can be fast-paced and require excellent time management.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience managing hospital construction or facilities projects tied to enterprise healthcare technology rollouts, particularly Epic go-lives. This person will work closely with facilities leadership, IS teams, deployment teams, clinical stakeholders, contractors, and third-party vendors to assess current-state environments, document infrastructure requirements, coordinate walkthroughs, and drive project readiness.

The organization is currently transitioning from Cerner to Epic, with a targeted enterprise go-live scheduled for 2027. This role will help ensure all inpatient and ambulatory facilities are prepared from a construction, electrical, low-voltage, and infrastructure perspective to support successful device implementation across the healthcare system.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead project management activities supporting Epic device infrastructure planning across inpatient and ambulatory healthcare facilities
  • Partner directly with the Epic End User Device Project Manager to align deployment activities with facility readiness initiatives
  • Conduct detailed facility walkthroughs across hospital and outpatient locations to identify infrastructure gaps, environmental constraints, and readiness requirements
  • Evaluate existing healthcare environments to determine electrical, network, low-voltage, and physical infrastructure needs for Epic device deployment

  • Create and manage facility requirement documentation to support procurement, design, and implementation efforts
  • Collaborate with engineering and network infrastructure teams regarding cabling, sequencing, installation planning, and deployment logistics
  • Translate walkthrough findings into actionable project scopes and implementation recommendations
  • Coordinate with third-party consultants, contractors, and technology vendors to ensure alignment on project deliverables and timelines
  • Lead facilities and IT coordination huddles and provide status updates to leadership teams
  • Support adaptation of standard Epic device layouts across older or unique healthcare facilities
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and operational impacts that could affect Epic go-live readiness
  • Ensure all planning activities remain aligned with enterprise implementation milestones and deadlines

  • Recent experience supporting at least one Epic go-live or Epic device rollout within the past 5–6 years
  • Strong experience managing projects within hospital or healthcare environments
