What is a Remote Epic ASAP Consultant?

A Remote Epic ASAP Consultant is a specialized healthcare IT professional who works remotely to implement, optimize, and support the Epic ASAP module, which is Epic Systems' emergency department information system. These consultants help hospitals and healthcare organizations configure workflows, train staff, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the software meets clinical and operational needs. They usually have significant experience with Epic's electronic health record (EHR) systems and are certified in the ASAP module. Working remotely, they use virtual tools to collaborate with teams, provide support, and manage projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Epic ASAP Consultant?

To thrive as a Remote Epic ASAP Consultant, you need deep knowledge of the Epic ASAP module, clinical workflow expertise, and an Epic certification in ASAP. Familiarity with Epic EHR systems, ticketing tools, and remote communication platforms is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for collaborating with clients and teams from a distance. These skills ensure effective system optimization, user support, and seamless project delivery in a remote healthcare IT environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Epic ASAP Consultants, and how can they be managed effectively?

  • Coordinate and execute unit, integrated, and user acceptance testing.
  • Participate in change management, release planning, and deployment activities.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, operational leaders, and technical teams to identify workflow improvements and optimization opportunities.
