Job description

Apex's Rockies Division is expanding and is looking forย an Environmentalย Complianceย Scientist.ย ย The ideal candidate is highly organized,ย detail-orientedย and has the technical compliance skills needed toย supportย projects.ย 

Your Responsibilities as an Environmentalย Complianceย Scientistย 3:

  • Collect groundwater samples forย dewatering andย baseline water quality.ย ย 
  • Support preparationย of environmentalย permits and reports forย projects, facilities, and operations forย variousย clients.ย ย 
  • High degree of technical competencyย with completing baseline water quality sampling in Coloradoย and/orย Wyoming.ย 
  • Familiarity with NPDES permitting in Colorado and/orย Wyoming.ย ย 
  • Provide technical oversight and mentor scientific staff to ensure quality work products.ย Conduct water quality sampling and prepare environmental compliance reports and technical deliverables.ย 
  • Client interactionย includesย onsite and virtual client meetings.ย ย 
  • Strongย track recordย ofย field work,ย proposal development and managing project deliverables,ย schedulesย and budgets.ย ย 
  • Understanding ofย environmental legislation and regulations andย determineย impact on client activities.ย 
  • Define and developย your own professional growthย with mentoring fromย projectย managers.ย

What we're looking for:

  • BS inย chemical, environmental or civil engineering,ย geology,ย environmentalย science, or another related field.ย 
  • 4+ย years ofย environmental consulting or industryย experience.ย ย 
  • Adept atย conductingย baseline water qualityย and dewateringย sampling followingย Colorado and Wyoming guidelines.ย ย ย 
  • Proficient at independentlyย researching,ย reviewing,ย andย guiding compliance withย environmental regulations at aย federal,ย stateย andย localย level;ย includingย NPDES &ย discharge permitting.ย 
  • Experienceย withย water sampling for groundwater and/or surface water.ย 
  • Abilityย toย multi-task andย solve problemsย whileย maintainingย qualityย and manage your own time.ย ย 
  • Strong communicationย skills, and collaborative workย ethic.ย ย 
  • Strong safety awareness, and an understanding of safe work practices.ย 
  • Excellentย writingย andย proficiencyย with Microsoft Office suite areย required.ย ย 
  • Valid driver'sย license andย a good drivingย history areย required.ย ย 
  • Experience supporting clients with Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) regulatory complianceย
