BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
This position supports the design, development, and maintenance of web-based and cloud applications within an Agile development environment. The role collaborates closely with senior developers and cross functional team members to assist with application development using technologies such as Node.js, React, Java, and AWS services, including DynamoDB and Lambda. Responsibilities include contributing to API and system integrations, supporting Guidewire Cloud configuration and development using Gosu and/or Jutro, assisting with data integration and data quality initiatives, and participating in testing, troubleshooting, and CI/CD processes. The role emphasizes learning, adherence to coding standards and best practices, and ongoing professional development, including Guidewire Cloud certification, while supporting reliable, secure, and scalable system solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Collaborate with the development team to support the design, develop, and maintain web applications using Node.js, React, and Java.
  • Assist in the implementation and integration of RESTful APIs, microservices, and third party services to enhance application functionality.
  • Learn and contribute to the optimization of database structures and queries using AWS DynamoDB or similar NoSQL databases.
  • Gain exposure to AWS Lambda functions for serverless architecture and event driven programming.
  • Contribute to the implementation of automated testing and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes to ensure software quality and deployment efficiency.
  • Gain exposure by working with configuration, customization, system integration, design and development of Gosu and/or Jutro coding in the Guidewire Cloud environment.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining integrations between Guidewire Cloud and external systems using APIs and/or web services.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and debugging activities, under the guidance of senior developers, to identify and resolve issues.
  • Participate in the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics with the goal of ensuring data quality within the data warehouse.
  • Participate in identifying and resolving database and data structure issues within the data warehouse.
  • Participate in addressing data related problems regarding systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platform integration within the data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and Agile development methodologies.
  • Stay current with Guidewire Cloud updates, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Basic understanding of web development concepts and technologies which may include one or more of the following: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, React.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git and basic collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and grow in a collaborative development environment.
  • Ability to become certified (or currently certified and up to date) as an Associate InsuranceSuite Developer on the Guidewire insurance cloud platform within six months; continued certification (Professional / ACE) may be required at a later date.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is strongly preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Java programming language and related frameworks.
  • Familiarity with AWS services, particularly DynamoDB and Lambda.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Familiarity with any of the following: GOSU, Jutro, XML, SQL.
  • Understanding of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Experience with data warehouse technologies or data integration concepts
