Position Title: REMOTE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST
Location: HOUSTON, TX
FLSA Class: EXEMPT
Responsible to: REMOTE OPERATIONS MANAGER
Position Summary: As a Remote Operations Specialist, you will be an essential member of our operations team, providing continuous monitoring and support for our ongoing power generation and fueling projects. This role demands a high level of vigilance, technical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively under varying shift patterns, including nights and weekends. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an office setting and possess excellent communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Continuously monitor system performance, network status, and power generation operations through various tools and platforms.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and updates to ensure system stability and security.
  • Respond to alerts and incidents, following predefined protocols to mitigate issues.
  • Document incidents, actions taken, and outcomes in the incident management system.
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate senior staff or external vendors as required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate operations and report issues.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on system status, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in briefings during shift handovers, ensuring seamless transition and continuity of operations.
  • Adhere to company policies and industry best practices for data security and privacy.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Participate in security audits and contribute to the implementation of security measures.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to share knowledge, troubleshoot problems, and improve processes.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for operational improvements.
  • Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, following established protocols for crisis management.
  • Coordinate with external agencies if necessary, to address and resolve critical incidents.
  • Adapt to rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Remain alert and focused during all working hours, regardless of the time of day.
  • Adjust quickly to changes in workload or priorities.

Other Requirements:
  • 2-5 years proven experience in a similar role or relevant technical field.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, network protocols, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Knowledge of CAT EMCP preferred.
  • Knowledge of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories device operations preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further technical or college education preferred.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time while working in front a computer.
