What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote entry graphic designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Entry Graphic Designer, you need a strong grasp of design fundamentals, creativity, and familiarity with visual communication principles, often supported by a portfolio and a relevant degree or coursework. Proficiency in industry-standard tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and basic knowledge of file formats and collaboration platforms are typically required. Strong time management, self-motivation, and effective digital communication skills help you stand out in a remote setting. These skills ensure you can deliver high-quality designs independently while collaborating efficiently with clients and teams from a distance.

Entry-level graphic designers may assist with basic design tasks, work under the supervision of senior designers, and help bring creative ideas to life for clients or employers. Remote positions provide flexibility and allow designers to collaborate with teams digitally using communication tools.

Job description

You care deeply about form, function, and how design can be a catalyst for change. Typography is your native language, and you use it fluently across print and digital.
You notice the small things others miss. More importantly, you understand how those decisions add up. When structured well, they become systems that shape how people understand and engage.
You're a designer's designer, and you love the craft. Your experience has sharpened your eye and raised your standards. You know when the work is landing, when it's slightly off, and when it needs a completely new approach.
We develop integrated campaigns for clients and causes that make the world a better place. The work is complex. The expectations are high. The opportunity to do meaningful, thoughtful design is real.
The Company
ICF Next brings together strategy, creativity, data, and technology to solve real problems.
We work with organizations dealing with complex challenges across energy, public health, climate, and more. The work needs to connect with people and drive change. It runs across multiple channels and formats. If it does not resonate, it does not work.
Send us your portfolio. We'd love to see your work.
As a Senior Graphic Designer, you will:
  • Design across digital, social, print, and campaign systems
  • Develop and extend visual identities, brand guidelines, and design systems
  • Create layouts with strong typography, hierarchy, and composition
  • Build cohesive brand systems across type, image, motion, and illustration
  • Partner with art directors, writers, strategists, and production teams
  • Contribute to concept development and push the work forward
  • Work at pace without losing precision
  • Deliver strong work within real constraints such as timelines, stakeholders, and compliance

You will need:
  • 7 or more years of experience in an agency or studio environment
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Additional attributes:
  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong fundamentals and a clear point of view
  • Deep understanding of typography, layout, and visual hierarchy
  • Experience building or contributing to brand systems and multi-channel campaigns
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite and tools such as Figma
  • Ability to use AI as a tool while applying strong design judgment
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to collaborate and take direction effectively

What we offer:
  • Flexible working arrangements, including remote and hybrid options
  • Competitive benefits, including healthcare and retirement plans
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • A diverse and inclusive workplace
  • A collaborative environment with opportunities to connect across teams
  • Opportunities to contribute to social impact and community initiatives
