Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking an experienced Program Manager, Nuclear Asset Sustainability Projects (NASP) to join a high-impact team supporting the largest public energy provider in the U.S. Located in Chattanooga, TN, this critical leadership role oversees daily power plant operations, ensures strict safety and regulatory compliance, and drives operational excellence across shift teams.

Schedule: On-site / Standard Business Hours (Rotational On-Call duties as required)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering / Program Manager to join our Nuclear Asset Sustainability Projects (NASP) team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing capital projects, standardizing project management processes, and driving operational excellence across power utility and infrastructure operations. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), leading project scoping, vendor and budget oversight, and cross-functional team alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program & Process Leadership: Maintain, improve, and standardize project management procedures, guidance documents, and governance in compliance with quality assurance and regulatory standards.
  • Project Scoping & Execution: Lead front-end project scoping, define execution strategy, and oversee compliance across project execution teams.
  • Vendor & Budget Oversight: Manage key vendor relationships, track project performance metrics (KPIs), and maintain strict oversight on project budgets and schedules.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with executive leadership, plant management, engineering, finance, IT, and external contractors to ensure project goals align with enterprise standards.
  • Performance Improvement & CAP: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, conduct post-project reviews/lessons learned, and utilize Corrective Action Programs (CAP) to resolve operational gaps.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in rotational on-call assignments as needed and serve as a Project Control Center Manager during key operational events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Math, Physics, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and direct experience).
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in power utilities, heavy infrastructure, power generation, or manufacturing environments.
  • Leadership: Minimum of 1 year in a lead, program management, or project engineering management capacity overseeing technical teams and capital projects.
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in project scoping, budget tracking, vendor management, and structured program management methodologies.
  • Clearance Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access at nuclear plant facilities.

Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of facilitating peer group meetings and presenting to senior leadership.
  • High sense of urgency, strong analytical skills, and the ability to define and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Background in mechanical engineering systems or heavy utility infrastructure projects.
