A Remote Engineered Wood Designer specializes in creating detailed plans and specifications for engineered wood products such as trusses, beams, and joists, working from a remote location. They use computer-aided design (CAD) software to design structural components that meet building codes and project requirements. Maintaining strong digital collaboration skills ensures projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards, even when working from a distance.

To thrive as a Remote Engineered Wood Designer, you need a solid background in structural engineering, wood design principles, and relevant education such as a degree in civil or structural engineering. Familiarity with CAD software, structural analysis programs (like AutoCAD, Revit, or MiTek), and knowledge of building codes are typically required, and certifications such as EIT or PE can be advantageous.
