Job DescriptionOverview

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer - Remote. This remote position is based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office.

Your role
  • This role requires a senior experienced engineering professional responsible for analyzing, developing, and improving industrial processes.

  • This role will support the overall design and analysis of mechanical components and system designs for nuclear and commercial projects.

  • Collaborate with productions teams, quality control, and other engineers to ensure processes run efficiently and meet safety and regulatory standards having a significant impact on project.

  • Applies extensive knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as chemical engineering systems including reaction vessels, filtration systems, ion-exchange skids, piping and vessel systems.

  • Conversant in the selection of commercially available equipment, which may include pumps, valves, pipe fittings, in-line components and filtration systems.

  • Performs a variety of engineering calculations using advanced and traditional engineering methods to document compliance with project and code requirements, which may include mass and energy balances, pressure profiles, pipe, pump and vessel sizing.

  • May run experiments and tests to assist in the preparation of design documents and plant modifications.

  • Familiar with national codes and standards appropriate to the mechanical and systems engineering disciplines.

  • Ensures relevant design criteria, specifications, practices, procedures and codes and site design and safety and licensing basis are used in preparation of design media.

  • Works in multi-discipline teams on project-based work and ensures integration of design across multiple disciplines. Will conduct mentoring, guidance, and quality reviews of the work of junior colleagues when needed.

  • Performs checking and reviewing to ensure accuracy of design media in accordance with company policies and procedures and client expectations.

  • Works to assigned schedules ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of work and initiates corrective measures to overcome delays.

  • Recommends new equipment, concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify design, reduce costs, correct design flaws or to comply with changes in client req uirements, codes or regulations.

  • Operates with a high degree of independence with minimal guidance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

About you
  • Bachelor's degree required in chemical, mechanical, industrial or related engineering field.

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in nuclear industry preferred.

  • PE preferred; Master's degree preferred.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Mastered the in-depth knowledge and experience required in process systems design.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and able to manage tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks.

  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.e

  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
