Role:ย Database Administrator

Location: Jackson, MS 39211 โ€“ย Remote ย ย 

Duration: 2ย year with possible extensions ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

ย 

Bachelorโ€™s Degree

Required Skills:

  • Responding in a timely manner to user-reported errors. Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access.ย 

  • Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss.

  • Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance.ย 

  • Suggesting changes and improvements for database maintenance or protection.ย 

  • Regularly liaising with IT project managers and database programmers.ย 

  • Designing databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind.ย 

  • Experience with some of the modern relational databases

  • Skilled at optimizing large complicated SQL statementsย 
  • Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databasesย 
  • Capable of configuring popular database engines and orchestrating clusters as necessaryย 
  • Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specificationsย 
  • Capable of troubleshooting common database issuesย 
  • Familiar with tools that can aid with profiling server resource usage and optimizingย 
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as GitLabย 
  • Familiar with SISS packages
