Client Overview Our client is a nationally recognized energy law firm with offices in Oklahoma City, Denver, and Houston. Responsibilities Conduct thorough oil and gas title examinations by researching historical property records, leases, contracts, and other instruments to determine ownership, establish clear chains of title, build ownership schedules, and identify title defects or encumbrances Draft, review, and deliver title opinions that clearly outline ownership status and assess the viability of production operations under current legal frameworks Provide strategic legal counseling to clients on transactional structures and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including risk evaluation and term negotiation Navigate multi-jurisdictional legal challenges and opportunities across Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming, staying current with legislative and regulatory changes Collaborate with landmen, division order analysts, geologists, and other industry stakeholders to ensure legal and operational goals align Support client relations and business development through excellent service and participation in industry events, workshops, and seminars Requirements Required: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school Active bar admission in good standing Minimum of 2-5 years of oil and gas title examination or related legal experience Strong organizational, research, analytical, and communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Preferred: Familiarity with oil and gas law in one or more core jurisdictions: CO, OK, NM, ND, TX, or WY Benefits Competitive compensation with significant performance-based bonus opportunities Lower minimum billable hour requirements with flexible, remote-friendly work environment Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer matching and retirement plan Paid time off, paid CLE, and bar dues covered Professional development programs and mentorship Life insurance, flexible spending account, and employee assistance program Collaborative, supportive team culture with experienced oil and gas attorneys Flexible engagement models: full-time employee, of-counsel, or independent contractor
