Job description

Overview
If you are a highly self-driven Certified Medical Assistant/Registered Medical Assistant wanting to join a team that values your expertise and empowers you to deliver high quality care in a supportive and dynamic environment, then join our talented Patient Clinical Services (PCS) team. This position is on-site/in-person for a minimum of 6 months before remote considerations.
The PCS CMA/RMA delivers high quality care through advanced clinical support and telehealth services in a remote environment to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the care of patients connecting through telephone and MyCarle messaging to ensure that care needs are met in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
  • Perform essential CMA job functions in coordination with Primary Care Physicians and Nursing staff.
  • Provide patient care through telehealth and MyCarle platforms.
  • Collaborate with nurses, clerical teams, and physicians to address patient care needs.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, pharmacies, and external facilities.
  • Conduct data collection for assessment under RN or clinician direction.
  • Relay patient information between patients, nurses, and providers.
  • Provide written instructions for procedures, medications, and follow-up as directed.
  • Offer condition-specific education using approved references.
  • Ensure accurate medication and immunization reconciliation in the EMR.
  • Follow up with patients regarding certain test results and provider instructions.
Telephone & Patient Communication
  • Complete telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities as directed.
  • Gather and maintain patient information via phone according to department processes.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in all patient interactions.
  • Relay lab results to patients with provider oversight.
EMR & Documentation
  • Document all care in EPIC EMR according to department standards.
  • Complete medication refill encounters, care-due messages, and order entry per protocol.
  • Manage Epic in-baskets, prioritizing messages based on acuity.
  • Receive and enter faxed encounters, renewal orders, and other communications into the EMR.
  • Conduct initial chart audits and determine care priority using Support Point and escalation processes.
Scheduling & Administrative Duties
  • Order and schedule appointments, labs, and screenings per protocol.
  • Register, schedule, and validate insurance for MRI screenings.
  • Process school/work forms.
  • Manage provider absences, including patient notification and rescheduling.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as:
    • Patient check-in/check-out
    • Prior authorizations
    • Appointment scheduling
    • Benefits verification
    • Coordination of referrals and testing
Care Coordination
  • Coordinate care with social work, pharmacy, and other collaborating services when appropriate.
  • Queue orders, referrals, imaging, labs, and medications for provider approval.
  • Work collaboratively with Medication Renewal Center nursing and clerical teams to maximize efficiency.
  • Complete medication refills and care-due messages in alignment with departmental policies.
Training & Competency
  • Successfully complete PCC scheduling center specialist training.
  • Maintain proficiency in call intake management, symptom guide use, and scheduling processes.

Salary Range
The compensation range for this position is $18.33per hour - $29.69per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health.
