Job description

Remote Control Software Engineer

Responsibilities Include:

This position is for a Remote Control Software Engineer to support the Surface Handling Autonomy and Remote Control group. The individual hired for this position will work as part of an engineering team to develop software, integrate, and test features on embedded electronic control systems for use in remote control machine applications.

Typical Day:

Work within team developing (designing and coding) features and/or validated solutions in the lab. Agile 2 week sprint environment.

Education:

Candidate must have a BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Science Engineer degree.

Technical Skills Required:

At least 4 years of hands on experience in embedded C coding using RTOS and/or Matlab Simulink experience. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex software/system issues. Strong experience unit testing features with a debugger. Understanding of the software development process (Ex. Waterfall/Agile).

DESIRED

Experience with remote control or robotics based applications or systems is a plus. Familiarity with heavy earth moving equipment machines or mining application experience. Regulatory or EMC testing experience a plus. Working knowledge of Trace32, Clearcase, Git, Canalyzer, and/or CANape. Matlab/Simulink development for embedded autocode implementation. Knowledge of Caterpillar processes and tools.

Soft Skills Required:

Ability to focus on multiple priorities and help where needed. Experience with a version management tool. Willingness to work on a diverse team. Excellent communications skills.
