Our employee-owners are unified by a singular commitment to supporting projects that address key societal issues, such as the transition to renewable energy, infrastructure hardening and repair, environmental protection, and community resilience.

Learn more about our award-winning culture, the benefits and perks of being a Dudekian, and the projects you will have the opportunity to shape.

How Youโ€™ll Make an Impact

Dudek is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to support complex civil engineering projects within the energy and infrastructure sectors. This role focuses on delivering technically sound, constructible site civil designs for utility-scale solar, electrical substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and related infrastructure projects.

As an employee-owner, you will lead the development of complete site civil design packages from early planning through construction support. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in grading, drainage, hydrology, and stormwater compliance, along with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff while ensuring high-quality project delivery.

This position is well suited for an engineer with 12+ years of experience who thrives in a fast-paced consulting environment and enjoys solving complex site and infrastructure challenges that support critical energy development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead civil engineering design and technical delivery for utility-scale energy and infrastructure projects, including solar facilities, electrical substations, and battery energy storage systems.
  • Develop and oversee complete site civil design packages, including:
  • Perform stormwater modeling and hydrologic analysis to support permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as technical lead responsible for design quality, constructability, and adherence to applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, structural, environmental, and permitting specialists to advance project design and approvals.
  • Provide technical direction, markups, and mentorship to engineers, designers, and technicians during plan development.
  • Support project execution by collaborating with project managers to maintain alignment with scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and construction documents for client and agency submittals.
  • Interface with clients and regulatory agencies during design development and permitting processes.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across deliverables.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of workflows, standards, and civil engineering best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, including experience supporting energy or power infrastructure projects (e.g., utility-scale solar, substations, or battery energy storage systems).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license with the ability to obtain additional state licensure through reciprocity as needed.
  • Strong experience preparing full site civil design packages for complex projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Demonstrated expertise in grading design, drainage systems, and stormwater management.
  • Experience performing hydrology and stormwater modeling.
  • Strong understanding of permitting and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Must possess a valid driverโ€™s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience serving as lead civil engineer or technical lead on utility-scale renewable energy or power infrastructure projects, including responsibility for full site civil design packages and coordination across disciplines.
  • Proficiency with stormwater and hydrologic modeling tools (e.g., Storm Sewer, Hydrograph, or similar platforms).
  • Experience preparing SWPPPs, erosion control plans, and stormwater reports.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership or mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong technical writing and client communication skills.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary consulting environments.

Compensation: $120,000-$165,000 annually*
